Let's post pictures of ourselves.

Which is real and which is the illusion? Nobody knows for sure...

I did cut away most of the formerly 70cm long hair a few months ago and now want it back desperately, it's growing back fast though.

Game Boy Camera? I need a way to get pictures off of mine.

I have the Madcatz cable for that, but it needs an old printer port, ie old laptop, and IIRC Windows 98?

Yeah, too much trouble. I know of some ways to copy the save files, I just need the hardware.

The Madcatz cable might not be of use to you then, since it uses the printer function rather than the savefile iirc, and I couldn't find any alternative software on zophar.net or similar. I bought this thing, if anyone is interested in a goth shopping center in Manchester. I'm trying to remember the name of it, but at the very top of this old paper mill building there's a retro shop with literally everything ever. Or at least there was, since it changes a lot over the years -- but this shop was better than CEX in London, and/or most of Tokyo. Really rare stuff. Like the Madcatz cable had about 2 copies in most uk stores that sold in a week.

I suspect a retrode would work for me, plus I could go through a long process with this thing I have seen on Amazon that allows you to copy and restore save files. With that one I would copy from the camera to the device, then send it to a flash cart, then connect that to a computer. I would probably go with something like ALTANE our a retrode if it works pretty much how I want.

You can look this up on Wikipedia or technical documentation elsewhere, but the GBCamera uses a different type of memory and setup to a normal savegame, and standard methods don't work. In actual fact, if i remember this correctly you need a linker unit for dev cartridges. They were expensive even at the time and people skipped straight for the GBA linkers, which were cheaper due to Chinese manufacture and sold on Lik Sang; prior to being shut down by Sony it was the original homebrew contest host which led to the GP32 and essentially this forum. The original gizmos still use printer ports however, but of course you do usb conversion? Most of the software for it, even community was msdos commandline. It definitely won't work elsewhere due to direct hardware access and timing frequencies, so you do still need a win98 laptop. Or write your own stuff; the easiest method is to pull apart an old broken DMG for the cart slot, or even GBA due to the compatability, and then write software in Linux via the usb. I did this once for the Sega VMU before getting bored and buying an extremely obscure interface box from Hong Kong. Also Msdos drivers, lol.

Or... If you really just want the photos, put the console in a scanner and do it that way. Kinda works.

Sounds like ALTANE is my best option, and I am pretty sure it was confirmed to work with backing up pictures. I keep putting it off, but hopefully I will decide to get it before I lose the pictures I currently have on mine (assuming they use a battery for the saves).

Well the following information is from memory, since the technical documentation links are now dead... But it uses a very small flash memory. The components in it were generally high grade, like it uses an industrial robot cmos camera, just minus all the other bits to make it colour and high frame rate. Knowing Nintendo they got this cheap off someone, like the original GB lcd was supposed to be surplus sharp calculator screens. And then they made enough profit to establish a contract, but probably at scammed rate. Typical hustle from an old yakuza card company.

Just got a new Twisty mask since I misplaced the one from last year. Still trying to break it in, so it's a bit misshapen.

Watching Stranger Things in case anyone is wondering.

What sort of conference is that? There seem to be a lot more women there than I would expect from the kind of confereces our more geeky members tend to go to. Not that that's a problem of course, just we tend to self-select topics that don't tend to appeal to many women.

Lots of women, him being from the Netherlands, the table decoration... all points to: something about the cut flower market. ;)
