After seeing my friends 8MB connection downloading at about 40KB/s, I wandered who else got shit like that.

So every one. Get in here, tell us what you should get, and what you actually get.
http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/ is the best speedtester for the UK.

Sky 8mb Broadband, the connect package, that's all I can get here.

7277 kbps (909.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/results.p...3&v=5696972

Sky is brilliant, cheap and incredibly fast, up to 1.1MB/s on sites like Rapidshare!

5460/552 kbs from that site's server

5378/675 kbs from the server in my state

7439/984 kbs from a server in texas

and i get this when i try colorado:

i live in the u.s. and i'm supposed to be getting 10MBps from comcast... i'll probably lower it soon since im getting results like these :(

Comcast is shit, yeah. I recommend Verizon FIOS. I can get it at my university but not at my home, so its always annoying back at the house

I tried one on a french server a while ago went up to 60mbps!

Comcast may have some of the worst policies of any ISP, but I can't complain about the speed here in north Jersey. I pay for 6Mbps down, and I get consistent 6Mbps downloads at any time of the day. I've seen short bursts as high as 18Mbps. These are real world measurements downloading from Giganews. I wouldn't trust those bandwidth test sites for anything.

Some speedtest get strange results because they're not taking caches into account. On one speedtest not too long ago, I got speeds like 30 MB/s (MegaBYTE, that is)! Even my harddisk does not always return that speeds! But the Namesco test seems pretty reliable.

I've got ADSL2+ with a theoretical max. of 20 Mbit/s, but the real speed depends on the distance from your home to the nearest hub. My real speed is somewhere around 13.5 Mbit/s, like my modem stats say.

Test results:
Download Speed: 12208 kbps (1526 KB/sec ) Upload Speed: 857 kbps (107.1 KB/sec )

Not bad, I get what I pay for! In fact, I expected lower figures.

BT's "Upto 8MB" ADSL syncing at 4.5Mbps, but due to there stupid BRAS Profiling:

130Kbps down, 458Kbps up according to a few speed testers.

(Yes, my upload is faster than my download!)

I get about 10KBytes/sec downloading files :(

OMG I feel so bad for you... that's like, mega shit.

Only double dial up speeds :S

I guess the fact that I am using the university connection is cheating a little.

In My Room:

Download Speed: 7659 kbps (957.4 KB/sec ) Upload Speed: 1000 kbps (125 KB/sec )

From Library Linux Terminals:

Download Speed: 55780 kbps (6972.5 KB/sec ) Upload Speed: 56522 kbps (7065.3 KB/sec )

Supposed to have 8MB/sec, but I got

Download Speed: 1515 kbps (189.4 KB/sec )

Upload Speed: 286 kbps (35.8 KB/sec )

Just done a few tests and I got:

Download Speed: 3500 kbps (437.5 KB/sec ) Upload Speed: 237 kbps (29.6 KB/sec )

Checked a few servers with speedtest.net and they seem to show about teh same and it coincides with what I experience when downloading from many places. I'm on BTs "up to 8 meg" ADSL thingy on a bit of a crappy line.

Virgin Media 20 megabit, to read those emails at blistering speeds of course.

TalkTalk, 'up to 8Mbps'. This does go higher during off-peak times.

I can't remember what my speed is supposed to be through Shaw, but I can get between 500 and 700 KB/sec most of the time. The exception there is with Bittorrent, which regularly sits at around 20KB/sec no matter what I do.

Work has a 3.5Mb E10 and that is pretty consistent as a whole, but since it gets spread among all the guests and employees, per user it can get pretty slow depending on how busy the hotel is. I'd love to upgrade it, but I just don't have the budget.

20KB/s on bit torrent? Ouch!

On my I get upto about 800KB/s on torrents, make sure the correct ports are forwarded, and don't use shit torrents.

But I'm sure you know that ;)
