Man, I had no idea there were so many Tegra 2 devices in the works.. crazy.
Not all of those might be Tegra2, some might be Tegra1. It's good to see ASUS among them, as ASUS has a relatively aggressive product cycle.

We'll have to see, but I think it'd be strange for Tegra 2's announcement to bring in a sudden flood of Tegra 1 devices. I think companies could have gotten Tegra 1 into devices easily enough well beforehand (I know not everyone is Microsoft, but we're talking about high volume with Zune HD). I would say they've been intentionally avoiding Tegra 1 and waiting for 2. Tegra 1 could have helped in prototyping, though.

Sounds reasonable. My interest in Tegra2 is slightly increasing. I hope we can see some substance soon. An ASUS netvertible à la T91 with Tegra2 could become a hit, I think.

Asustek Computer plans to unveil a tablet PC based on Nvidia's Tegra processor at Computex Taipei 2010, according to industry sources. The device, dubbed the Eee Pad, will be manufactured by Pegatron Technology.

The sources expect the Eee Pad to be priced below US$500.

Below $500...$499?
Not yet there and already dead

They are hoping that they can hop on the Apple tablet wagon, I suppose.

Wow, that's surprisingly expensive from Asus, who shocked the world with their original Eee prices.

They can make a 10" netbook for under $300, why should a tablet cost so much more? Especially when the part costs for a Tegra-based device is so much lower. Maybe they're just testing the waters with this, or they need some early adopters to pay for the R&D, and there will be a $250 version six months down the road.

On a similar note, that ugly Lenovo Skylight(1GHz Snapdragon) smartbook(with rounded edges) will cost $499 unsubsidised.
I think, as long as the market isn't crowded yet, they will try to rip off consumers.
If smartbooks are either overprized netbook remakes formfactor-wise or tablets, they will be a deadbirth. You can get current dual core 11.6" CULV laptops for under $400 with a real world battery life of 7h and a multiple of the performance that smartbooks offer. Smartbooks have to be cheaper and smaller, imo.
