What is the best way to explain what a Pandora is?

I would go with:

The "smart" from smartphone, plus the

"

book" from notebook

and the "media" from PMP and the "game" from retrogaming cross-bred with a DS

"A pocket-sized computer with gaming controls". That's how I describe it, it seems to work well. :p

Doesn't really make me think of neat versatility much...

...more like a playstation controller running winCE...!...?

hows about:

smartphone + geek x DS

A computer doesn't make you think of versatility? :p

I certainly can't imagine putting the Pandora in the same bracket as something like smartphones, myself, but that's probably because I find those very restrictive and not at all useful...

More that a pocket computer doesn't make me think neat and versatile at the same time.

I either think
Cheap_PDA.summ.jpg
or I think my entire desktop complete with tangle of usb cables, crammed into my pocket. probably just me...

A pile of shit.

EDIT: Oops sorry, wrong thread.
:D

:D ahm

How about calling it a tardis of electronic gadgets:

looks a bit odd/camouflaged

fits a lot of stuff in

allows you to travel back in electronic history and play with old home computer/consoles

How about calling it a tardis of electronic gadgets:
But is your Pandora bigger on the inside? AND STOLEN?!?!
  1. If I had one, then yes, metaphorically (they do lots of cool stuff for their size)
  2. I was planning to pay over £300 for one when they are actually available, however, I will steal one if you wish...

Just yesterday a colleague asked me if that black thing with the questionable case design was a telephone.

What I replied was:

It is a tiny personal computer running Linux on an ARM platform, and I mentioned that the used ARM platform is basically the same one as the platform we develop on at work (a quite powerful car infotainment system). The colleague was astonished.

Btw, I also clearly stated that I like the case design.

How about "The lovechild of a Nintendo DS and a palmtop, on steroids"

i always say it uses the same technology as psp nds smartphones ect. but its a computer with game controls. i mention that it runs a full desktop and applications and not goofy "pour a forty oz on the curb for my dead homie" apps.

lately they show me how their phone is a metal detector and a level and flash light etc.
