In my book, this equals bandwidth, as people aren't looking at banner ads = you don't get as much ad revenue = you can't afford the bandwidth. End of story.
As I already explained, it's not the bandwidth/revenue issue for me, it's the principle of linking files without permission.
Secondly just because I'm on IRC does NOT mean I'm here. Shortly after being sent a message from you I removed the link. I knew I was in the wrong, I didn't expect a thanks, and I certainly DID NOT expect someone to attack me and call me a 12 year old and a smartass.
Read your post from my POV, that's how it seemed.
I removed all mention of the link now. The idea of not removing the mention of the link was to show that I had removed a direct link and, also, to inform users that the link was removed because it was not given for that kind of traffic. Else, I would get dozens of e-mails quite quickly asking "Where has the gpvsgb link gone??"
Oh please... Even if I choose to believe everything you're telling me now, you could've simply pointed them to Retrogames and I would've added the mirror link in my latest GP32 news post which already had a link to this site anyway. You barely edited your post, and it seemed more like sour grapes than keeping the public informed. Leaving a blank link is plenty confusing IMO.
I asked to check the forums for links because, as demonstrated by some helpful people on this board, it can be mirrored. I know of at least two GPVSGB mirrors by other people, so my reference to checking the boards is completely valid.
I was here through that whole period, hoping you'd come to this thread to address me, and nobody posted another mirror till well after you posted that. And if you were so busy on IRC and not looking here as you said, how would you know when the new mirrors popped up? Hmm.
Just to let you know, I don't actually owe you anything.
No, you have it upside down and backwards - I DON'T OWE YOU ANYTHING. I didn't ask you for anything. I offered a few people here a quick file mirror and you chose to post it in the news, and I POLITLEY explained and asked you to remove it OR send them to Retrogames and I'd post it there. Stop trying to twist things, cause I'm not buying it.
Get someone to configure retrogames properly, file hotlinking is perfectly allowed in the internet, and quite frankly I can link to whatever file I want.
Keep ignoring the principles involved. You chose to make some bad blood with me, now you're just making it worse.
Finally - the "Yawn" in my post was not because I was being sarcastic or making fun of you. It was because I was tired.
Assuming I choose to believe that story, how am I supposed to know this? Did it occur to you at all that starting a reply with "yawn" seems like part of THE REPLY? Either you don't think before you write, or you meant it the way I took it. Which is it?
"I don't take crap from anyone." - Guess what, I don't either and you blew this rather simple mistake out of proportions.
I blew it out of proportion how? By posting here? I don't see any harm in that whether I'm right or exaggerating. And it's not the "simple mistake" of posting the file that made me angry but the way you handled things afterwards.
At this point, it's over and done so screw it. I think maybe there was some misunderstanding - to a degree. I also think you WERE being smartass and are just lying to cover that up now. And the entire situation would have been avoided if you'd simply ASKED ME before you posted your news bit with my mirror without permission. It's all a matter of principle, not a matter of what you can do or not. And if you don't want to make someone think you're being smartass, don't answer them with a yawn and some easily misconstrued remarks. A simple "OK" would've been a lot better than "yawn." Surely anyone can see that much.
