As Kumaki asked whether there's something I know she could help out with, I thought I'd make a public post, as this is something everyone else could also help with :)

If you take a look at the top of the boards, you can see a menu with "Emulation".

I wanted to make a nice list of all emulators there, which should help the newbies to choose the best one for them.

However, I ran out of time, so there are a lot of emulators missing.

If some of you could help out here, that would be great :)

To not have double work, please simply post your system here in the thread.

I can then easily promote it into the menu above. So make use of BBCode :)

Below is example code I used for the SNES section.

Super Nintendo Emulation

[img=http://boards.openpandora.org/images/SNES.png]
Basically, it starts with the system name and an image. You can attach an image to your post. It should be free to use (wikipedia has public domain images of most systems) and scaled to a width of max. 600 pixels.

After the name and picture, there are blocks of the various emulators available for the system.

I try to put the best working one on top.

The block has a standard layout as well:

Snes9x4P

System: Super Nintendo
Emulator: Snes9x4P
Maintainer: Ivanovic

[media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiTD9EMxjMI[/media]
First is the name in bold. Then there are some links.

First, the link to the Wikipedia entry of the system. Then the link to the emulator on the repo and finally to the maintainer (member page on these boards).

Last is a YouTube Video done by me (if available).

You can leave that out, as I'll add videos myself later anyways.

After this common info, there's a short description of the emulator, with the most important features highlighted in bold:

Another very good emulator, ported from Android to the Pandora.
Also based off SNes9x means that it has almost perfect compatibility as well.
It also supports various scaling sizes, Scanlines and CRT Mask filters (which enhance the look on an LCD), savestates and it even saves automatically when you exit the emulator.

Repeat that for every emulator for one system.
Here is a full example code for you if you like to copy / paste and edit:

Put your system here - Emulation

[img=http://boards.openpandora.org/images/SYSTEMNAME.png]

Name of Emulator

System: System Name
Emulator: Emulator Name
Maintainer: Maintainer Name

[media]http://Link_to_YouTube_Video_of_The_Emulator[/media]

Describe the emulator here. Highlight the most important features using bold letters.

Thanks for your help :)

Cap32

System: Amstrad CPC

Emulator: Cap32

Maintainer: jonsneyers

http://Link_to_YouTube_Video_of_The_Emulator

Caprice32 is one of the best emulator of the Amstrad CPC home computer series running on Windows and Unix, written by Ulrich Doewich. This emulator faithfully imitates the CPC464, CPC664, and CPC6128 models

(see caprice32 project)

Ported by ZX81 - as previously ported by him to Gp2x-Wiz

What's new compared to original Caprice32 project :

- Cheat support !

- Memory monitoring engine to find your own cheat code !

- Text editor to modify the global cheat.txt file

- Text editor to write your own comments on games

- Display first comment line while browsing game files

- CPC Disk explorer

- Auto disk startup support

- Save state in gzip format

- Screen size / Fit mode optimized for Pandora

- Pandora Keyboard support

- Save directories for snap and disk image on exit

- etc, etc ...

Thanks, but you forgot the links to Wikipedia, the emulator and maintainer. Could you add those?

ZX Pandy

System: ZX Spectrum
Emulator: ZX Pandy
Maintainer: dave18

[YouTube video of ZX Pandy - TBC]

An emulator of the classic ZX Spectrum machine.

First written for the GP32 system then ported over to Pandora.

Makes use of Notaz's SDL for full-screen and hardware scaling.

From version 3.2 the support for TZX files was included.

ED, is this type of thing you looking for?

I just grabbed info from the boards and the repo and linked an image from Wikipedia.

I couldn't find a YT clip showing this emu so didn't include one.

If so, I can do some more of these for you

Make sure to click the bbcode button :)

Existing arcade category:

Compo4All MAME

System: Arcade games

Emulator: Compo4All at the Repo

Maintainer: Skeezix

Compo4All is a port of MAME (derived from PanMAME above) with online multiplayer scoring; games are not played head to head, but scores are tallied in the same online table against other C4A players!

New entry; you may want to copy the artwork to local?

Atari ST (also TT030, Falcon) - Emulation

300px-Atari_1040STf.jpg

HAtari

System: Atari ST

Emulator: HAtari

Maintainer: Skeezix

HAtari is a very good Atari ST emulator; should generally run full speed on all Pandoras, and offers comprehensive emulation (hard drive, joystick, MIDI, its got it all.) Atari ST is the 16/32 bit Atari computer platform -- many great games, and many great applications - but dont' be confused with the 8bit line such as Atari 2600 or XE, which would be a different emulator altogether.

Hummm...okay, so did you want me to add those to the Panodra Wiki, once the text is posted by people?

Be happy to if you want that, but I'll need to know exactly where it is wanted, and I believe I already have a login to the Wiki.

No, the idea is that people (e.g. you, if you want to) produce text in the format ED specified. ED will then add those entries to the forum menu.

Zenity selection for romfiles and framefiles.
It actually has an GTK-Dialog frontend for fileselection, dipswitchsettings, etc. now.
