GB/GBC emulation

Hmm, thought I had a default config that fixed that. To fix the skewing, press Esc, click Settings->Video and set Scaling restrictions to "None" or "Only scale by integer factors".

That worked. And it appears to keep that setting, even after quitting out of the emu and re-loading it.

Might want to change that default and re-upload...but mine works now, thank you.

By the way, I used "integer factors" the "None" option made things look kinda stretched, and it didn't look great.

Try deleting your pandora/appdata/gambatte-qt foler. When I load Gambatte without the appdata folder, it successfully creates the default video and control configs

When you use none choose a video filter like MaxST's hq2x and it makes it look a lot better IMHO, but thats up to your personal preference.

Edit: Sorry, misunderstood, I reread that you like pixelperfect type. I would then suggest using MaxST's hq3x to smooth it in integer scaling as well.

shit.

Now I'm having the same problem I had with gbsp or whatever its face was. It loads up the game and doesn't respond to start buttons...dammit...

What the hell??

I dunno...I'm getting way frustrated here...so far VisualBoyAdvance is just working right and this one isn't.

I'm always willing to try new stuff but in the end I gotta go with what freaking works.

this one so far isn't. VBA just freaking works.

I'd PREFER this one because I like the pickle launcher...but darn it, it does me no dang good if I can't make the games actually PLAY.

start button is game button Y and select is game button A. And you can go into settings (where you found video stuff) and choose input and set your own buttons.

Still not freaking working.

The goddam select screen stays up and NOTHING will start the game.

The control pad up and down changes selection in spite of me designating the A button for that...and NOTHING...I TELL YOU NOTHING...makes the freaking game START.

I'm sorry but if this is not improved, then I give up and stick with VBA, because at least it freaking WORKS.

Well, it works for me. Excellently, I might add. So I think we may assume user error :)

What have you tried, though? The first thing I did was to go into the "Settings" menu, go to "input settings" and go through all the keys, setting not only the A and B buttons, but also Start and Select, to reasonable values. They were set to something weird by default, I seem to remember.

Well....I dunno.

Tell you what I will try.

I will delete the Gambatte off my Pandy...and take the appdata folder with it.

Then I will re-load Gambatte back to the Pandy, let it create a new appdata folder.

I'll fudge around with all the settings like you suggest...and put the ROMS back in the appdata folder.

If all that doesn't work, then I give up.

and a shame, because I do like the look of Gambatte...I just need the thing to WORK.

VBA does work at the moment, but I do not like the interface as well.

First of all, I am goign to apologize in advance for any caps or mild swearing, but I am VERY frustrated...

Allright...now this is what I did...

1. I took Gambatte off Pandy...and deleted the appdata folder.

2. I re-downloaded Gambatte, in case I had a corrupted copy.

3. I put Gambatte on the Pandy.

4. I fired it up...Pickle Launcher came up - no games yet, obviously.

But it created the appdata folder.

NOW...I put my ROMS in the appdata folder.

5. Try to fire up Gambatte...and now the effing Pickle Launcher won't even come up!!!

The damned screen blinks and then that's it!!

All other emus come up normally...so this is not a problem with my unit or my card...THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH GAMBATTE!!!

NOW...I take the appdata folder away...and Gambatte launches up with the Pickle Launcher...no games, obviously...and it creates the appdata folder.

6. I checked to be sure the appdata folder got created. It did.

7. I put no roms in there.

Loads up like a charm...pickle launcher comes up.

NOW....

8. After you put the roms in...the effing pickle launcher won't come up any more.

9. When you take the rom files back out...THEN the pickle launcher will once again work!!

In fact, this last time, taking the roms out didn't work, it STILL didn't lunch the GD pickle launcher.

I had to delete the entire appdata folder.

THEN the Pickle Launcher would come back. BUT EVERY TIME I PUT ANY ROMS IN THE APPDATA FOLDER IN GAMBATTE, THE DAMN THING STOPS WORKING.

Now I swear to GOD...I am not great but I'm NOT an idiot, either, and I'm doing everything right and it still is not working!!!

For giggles, I even tried putting the roms in a totally separate folder along with the menu/apps/appdata/desktop folders way out front, so it would not affect anything in the gambatte appdata folder...same thing happened!!

As soon as any ROMS are in there, it stops working, it won't bring up the Pickle Launcher.

Taking out that folder then did not make the pickle launcher come up again...I had to physically remove the entire appdata folder on gambatte.

THEN the Pickle Launcher comes up.

And it will keep coming up and coming up and coming up...no matter how many times I open and close the app....BUT AS SOON AS I TRY TO PUT ANY ROMS IN THERE...it stops working...and no longer brings up the Pickle Launcher!!

Tried it.

See above what I have tried, and what has resulted.

every time I launch with no gambatte appdata folder it works.

Every time I re-launch with just the appdata folder, it works

As soon as I try to add any roms...ANYWHERE...whether in the appdata folder or anywhere else...it no longer works. even after removing the roms, it don't work. You have to completely remove the appdata folder for gambatte.

So this does me no good if I can't even put any ROMS in there!!!

What the heck??

I mean, I'm not GREAT with this stuff, but I'm not an idiot...I'm quite sure I have done everything right, and it still does not work right for me...now why is that?

put the roms in a separate place...

Tried that!!!

SAME RESULT!!!

Upload your /tmp/pndrun_gambatte-qt.out file

Huh??

I don't even have a file like that I do not think.

Nope, looking all around...I have nothing that even has /tmp

How do I get to that file and how would I UPload it? I can't hook my Pandy to my laptop...if it isn't on my SD card, I have no idea how I'd upload it?

Run Gambatte, and upload your /tmp/pndrun_gambatte-qt.out file. It will be there assuming your pandora is not messed up.

I don't see any such file. I don't even see TMP!!!

WHERE the heck do I find that??

EVERYTHING else works just beautiful...so why is this thing giving me problems? My Pandy can't be nmessed up, why would EVERYTHING ELSE work just dandy if it was my Pandy that was the problem?

OK, wait...I found a MNT/UTMP/gambatte-qt

Is THAT what you wanted?

Under that there is

bin

defconf

gambatte

images

lib

scripts

None of these options actually lead anywhere, really.

There is NO .out file of any kind.

No, there should be a /tmp/pndrun_gambatte-qt.out file. Are you on the latest firmware (SuperZaxxon 1.52)?

Yes. I got a rebirth. I have the latest super zaxxon.

No, I have release 1.51

I have no freaking idea where this file you want is or how the hell I would upload it?

there is NOTHING that says /tmp

let alone /tmp/blah blah blah blah.

Now...WHERE am I supposed to find this file?

I'm looking all over and NOTHING.

And like I said EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS BEAUTIFUL ON MY PANDY...

It HAS to be something wrong with Gambatte...because otherwise, why would everything else work beautiful?
