If anyone still wants the LCD hardware fix on the first unit: I did this on a few units already, so I can do it for you, too, if you want.
What exactly is this "hardware fix"? Is it something one can do at home? Some people might actually prefer to risk voiding the warranty rather than sending their gp2x around the world...

I wouldn't do it, you need to be at least talented at soldering plus you need to be accurate and have the spare parts, I won't go into details there I don't know but there is a guide how to do it somewhere...

An SMD resistor needs to be exchanged, The size of it is 1mm x 0,3mm if you want to try it...

So that's definitely confirms what I posted yesterday. So I guess GPH approved this hardware modification and gave instruction about it.

So is there any need for this hardware fix, or software just good enough?

Well, as said, did the fix on a few of the BAD flickering units.
They don't flicker anymore, but the screen gets brighter.
I wouldn't fix it, unless you REALLY have some bad flickering which can't be fixed with the LCD Tweaker and FW 1.0.1 (most flickering gp2x stop flickering as soon as they've been updated to FW 1.0.1)

Oh, and I'm talking about flickering in games or utilities, NOT the flickering when you move left / right at the main menu.

So: Don't fix it unless it is broken.
Out of 200 units, I only fixed 3 or 4, as they had some REAL bad flickering.

correct me if im wrong, but there IS NO FIRST EDITION/SECOND EDITION!

As far as i know, the first 500 units where made by some shitty factory, and thus all the problems hardware related arose, after that they switched manufacturer, RIGHT? and people seem to think any unit not in the first batch of 500 is a "second edition" when its not, its really starting to bug me.

But mine says "First Edition" right on the case!
