Fgen32 Video Sonic 1 With Sound!

xVid

... and YES, it looks VERY nice (and not too slow either :))

And please stop that Gigadrive / fGen nonsense.
Both share the same ASM core by fdave, the only reason why the actual public beta of Gigadrive is better than fGen is because it has a newer, more compatible Cyclone68k core in it... which has already been implemented into fGen, too, I guess :)

Ive not seen this as of yet but if its running from geepee which i aint sure it is, will it not be slower anyway. I say good job to both coders. I'm well happy about these two projects. Btw I womder where yoyo an team have been recently. lol sorry to be off topic. B)

I don't get why all of his emulators get the 4 screen split bug. It must be something common in his code so would it b possible to correct it? Its happened to me in doom as well. Its cool u can just go into the menu to clear it so easily tho B).

No, it's recorded from an actual GP32, not Geepee.

I don't know about yoyo - strangely he doesn't reply to my eMails... maybe he's just too busy ATM

More like the same SDK.

I have to say that I have had real trouble trying to get 99% of my MegaDrive .smd files to run on GigaDrive. The only one that works to any success is Zool - The others 9most of the Sonic games for starters) tend to crash when the game has been playing for a few mins and Columns sometimes plays and sometimes crashes. I have tried different versions of the games but I think I am gonna have to go back to FGen.

Darn nice. Admittedly, its nothing like as fast as without sound, but still... Hopefully he'll be able to optimise it up to a faster speed. Though I doubt that would happen within either z80 or 68k cores. Maybe in their integration though or something...
But even if he *can't*, I imagine the sound will be usually turned on when people are playing RPGs; framerate doesn't matter *quite* as much then :).

Sounds like your GP32 cannot handle the said clockspeed.

EEK! you mean the the one that doesn't have 132 in the file name is over clocked!! ewww gotta get it off my smc!

yeah overclocking rules. the only thing that can happen and has happened is that the gp reboot itself.
I haven't heard of any damage to any gp from overclocking.

Do you feel unlucky or something? :p

jesus i just don't like overclocking god 'scuse me! anyway the reason is i can't use it, it just crashes in the middle of a game, which is not cool.

I dont like to oc my gp either; nothing to do with uncertainty, just that I like my batteries and dont own rechargables (yet).

I am most impressed with this video. I was expecting it to be ALOT slower with sound enabled, but it seems to be running very nicely indeed. I can't wait for the next public release

btw is anyone else not receiving betas through Rlyeh's mailing list?

Nope.... I'm not at the mo... but then, maybe that's because these are still in "it compiles - now lets deal with issues" stages or some such. If he knows about enough problems already that are obvious, then he may well want to try and fix them first etc. etc...

correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe the genesis runs at a higher clock speed than the snes. I can't look at the video right now (programming class), but does it have better preformance than osnes9x has with sound? If so, i would say it was quite the accomplishment.
