Fed Up With The Gp32

Somehow, I've never had a save problem with fGB32... it has something to do with the saves being recognized by "#" rather than rom name, which means that if your order of ROMs changed in your GB folder, all of the saves don't work anymore. If you don't like fGB32, you could always try GPvsGB; that's pretty good also, from what I've heard.

And for SMS/GG, just use SMS32 v0.5. I've found that it's the better emulator anyway, although it does have a sound clicking problem sometimes (about 20% of the time, although it's not really that bad).

P.S. You know, the GBA D-stick also makes a sound when you move it. I don't really get bothered by the GP32's click... if it bothers you, just listen to your games through earphones.

Hey - I've heard so many people complaining about broken diagonals - what do you guys *do* to your GPs? DO you try and push the stick right out the back or something??

. Any way there are some good guids on how to oppen up a flu and fix joystick

there's no need to open up your GP32 to sort out the joystick.

I think the main problem with HungryWolf is he expected to get a GBA/DS type handheld. The GP32 really isn't a kiddies toy, it's more for the person who likes to tinker and use their head a bit.

In the right hands the GP32 is a LOT of fun. In the wrong hands, it's a paper weight. If you're the type of person who prefers to figure out why your PS/Console/Toaster just made a ping noise, then it's for you. However, if you're on the technical support line at the first sign of trouble, then I would sell your GP32 to someone who is more likely to appreciate such a fabulous item of electronic marvel that is, the GP32.

There is actually unlimited technical help for the GP32, this forum is one example of such support. All you need is patience and a bit of common sence. If you stick with the GP32 I'm sure you will feel like the guy who invented the rear view mirror. He never looked back  !

Clare.

True the Gp32 definately is not a kids toy, its similar to the PSP. I recommend 17+ for both the GP32 and PSP. Apart from the diagonal problem, which I had myself with one of my 2 gp32s I owned for over a year, I don't see why you would want to sell after one month. Theres lots of fun gaming to be had.

I think posts like this, while they seem discouraging on the surface, actually serve to bring our little community a bit more together and post more positive responses. At least that is what I have seen so far.

With all the fixes for the BLU+ and all the people that have fixed and dealt with problems that have arisen with various problems in the past, I'm sure that there's no problem that someone hasn't seen yet for the FLU or NLU, so jumping off the bandwagon might be a bit premature.

My BLU+ is some of the best money I've ever spent. I haven't regretted it yet.

The guy wants to sell up? When MAME is about to be released? Is he NUTS!! I've had my gp32 for a year and a half now and there are still things that I have not got around to doing yet, such as playing scummvm games for example..

Well, I've had the GP32 for about a month or so, and I've liked it while it lasted. But there were problems with it that, in the beginning, didn't bother me so much, but now, they're really starting to piss me off.

It was cool while it lasted, but I just can't stand it anymore.

Cant believe you are so fed up with it

Anything in the world, whether its a car, music cd, console etc, every now and then you will get a broken one or one which isnt 100%.

Saying you dont like the clicking when you move the control pad is a bit childish, yeah i'm not a huge fan of it but it reminds me of joysticks back in the 80's which did the same with microswitches. Thats just petty though.

The joystick problem i can sympathise with and the screen but i've had no problems with my BLU so maybe it was more common with the older ones.

Some emulators have problems but thats not that common, at the end of the day theyre all free so we cant complain too much.

Many GP32's have 'broken' diagonals from the beginning, I never really noticed my GP32 had bad diagonals until I used one of the button testers and later when trying some space-shooters.

17+? No, I think it's more a question of personality type than age. Remember that we have (or had) a 12-year-old GP32 user here who seemed quite a more mature than most 17+ people. :p

Using the GP32 is more like using a computer than a gaming console.
