Fast Boot Firmware - 15 Second Boots

Did you run the cramfs updater gpu before doing the kernel upgrade?

Yes, you have to do it first, it's different to the GPH updates.

yes i followed neostueys guide exactly

I wouldn't worry so much about the battery warning light. Whatever code they (GPH) had wirtten in doesn't seem to be all that accuarte. The fact that my light is on nearly all the time says to me that they shouldn't have bothered. I get 5+ hours play with my Ansmann 2500s, and I seem to remember someone saying that the battery warning came on while the where using an AC adaptor.

EDIT : By the way, some apps refused to start with my Gp2X cramf'd 0.0.4

ex: Gp2xEngine (just don't start anymore)

I'm back to Fw 1.4.0 with anger (just kidding; he !)

I'm using the GP2XEngine 1.3beta released on the 14th January with the cramfs 0.0.4. and it works just fine. The latest TV-Out enabled version doesn't work but the executable has shrunk from being 228kb to 142kb, so I'm not sure what was left out of that build.

I have duke3d, gp2xspectrum and uhexen sitting in my broken under crampfs folder, everything else I run appears to work with no ill effect.

That's what I have been thinking. But I overwrote my old GP2XEngine archive with the new one...
Duke3D was not working anymore too.

I just can´t get it to work!!!!!!!!!
I´ve tried by following Neostuey´s instructions about 8 times now and every time it hung up at the green screen after the "Updating Firmware" screen. Now I tried without formating the SD card... and the same Problem!!!!!!!!!!
Pleeeaaase, somebody help me!! I´m really starting to get crazy with this thing.

  • Step 1, Copy the 3 files to the root of your SD.
  • Step 2, Turn on your GP2x (Without the SD card in it)
  • Step 3, Run the Utility script.
  • Step 4, Wait till it display's the menu again, note nothing will change yet, it will still be your prevous menu.
  • Step 5, Shut it off, and Turn it back on.
  • Step 6, It should say firmware upgrading. If so, congrats. If not, get a friggen compatable SD card.

Can I delete the utility script and the dump when I finish steps 1-6?

Just flashed this fine! My god its quick! Anyways.. Does anyone know if theres a version of sterm that works with this firmware? mine just sits on a blank screen!

Cheers

Edit: My bad... Its in the NAND menu!

Am I the only one that notices that cramFS makes the video player a bit crapped up, with occational sync problems and stuff, the regular 1.4 firmware doesn't have this problem.

If you think thats quick, you should try the 9 second boot :)

(does mean reflashing uboot though, which can brick your gp2x, so definitely not recommended unless you have a jtag setup)

i got art103's u-boot on my gp2x, plus theodboots' fastboot, and now my GP2X is a *DREAM* machine as far as boot-time features go .. boots under 10 seconds, very fast, and serial console is up right away ..

well done to the both of you guys! seriously, very well done! this is the sort of improvement we were expecting from the community, and you guys have definitely delivered ..
