They can do what they like with their product. As for zero effort you have to be joking.Yeah, since it has about zero effort involved in doing it. That's how you recognize assholes.not releasing THEIR product on a platform you like
Ummm where? The only kind of mention I see is of shadow warrior which was made by a different studio and using a different engine (granted based off havok) Or where you mention Carmack's libraries but he never touched any of the fallout games.zero effort obviously refers to linux versions They already hAve obviously if you had been following The conversation.
Carmack ports to linux when he was at ID software. (which is about every single game before RAGE).Carmack's libraries
Gee you think Windows and Console Gamers are not abusive ? Please, discover something called Reddit. Have fun.the fact the users are so zealous and abusive just cements that decision.
I'm not sure if you noticed but I was never talking about Fallout.ported used the same engine as fallout.
He talked about releasing the existing Linux ports of the old ID games...It doesnt work like that. None of the games Carmack ported used the same engine as fallout. Also Carmack left them.
As for the abuse of course there is on windows/consolez but they are a large section of the market. Linux is miniscule and its been shown the crap devs get from them is way out of preportion for the userbase.
You are calling them assholes, motherfuckers etc because they arent doing exactly what you want. Don't you see a problem with that?
A billionaire walks in the street. Someone is starving on the street and asking for a coin to buy food. The billionaire walks on.I look at it like its their property they don't have to do anything if they don't want to. Don't like it don 't buy it but the abuse people give is just childish and being man babies.
Nope, it's totally deserved, on the contrary, just like the abuse Microsoft got before when they were locking the PC market was totally deserved as well. It was their right to fend off competitors and to make a Microsoft-only world, but they were still assholes to do so.Whatever the case the abuse is uncalled for.
A billionaire walks in the street. Someone is starving on the street and asking for a coin to buy food. The billionaire walks on. It's his right, it's his property, He does not have to do anything they do not want to. It's still very much appropriate to consider them as an asshole, because it's not like that person would be losing anything by doing that, and would actually be doing good in the world for almost free.
I don't see how you can compare the two. How are they locking the gaming market by not releasing something? Surely that would give others the opportunity to snatch that market.Nope, it's totally deserved, on the contrary, just like the abuse Microsoft got before when they were locking the PC market was totally deserved as well. It was their right to fend off competitors and to make a Microsoft-only world, but they were still assholes to do so.
Obviously I'm comparing with something you can relate to, because what matters here is behavior, not the actual situation at work.Don't you think comparing games to starving people is a bit much?
I'm not saying they are locking the gaming market. I was simply making a parrallel with Microsoft getting some heat and abuse for behaviors that were not appreciated either, while they were in their right to do so. Again, not an exact comparison. How are they locking the gaming market by not releasing something?
What is the actual situation? You have insiders in Bethesda?Obviously I'm comparing with something you can relate to, because what matters here is behavior, not the actual situation at work.
