Can you see gamepark as a big competitor in the future? Taking on Nintendo, Microsoft & Sony in handheld or console wars? or will they become a mere legend like Sega, Magnavox, Intelvision , Atari & so forth...

No, they don't. They recently said they don't intend to directly compete with Sony or Nintendo or Microsoft. They don't even believe the GP Kids has any console on the market in the same bracket, so it CAN'T compete with anything. It's made for casual gamers who just want simple cheap things to play and occupy time, basically-- and maybe play some music, etc. while the XGP/XGPmini series are undergoing a redesign to be systems made for hardcore gamers and developers.Cervante posted on Sep 26 2006 at 01:36 PM said:Ok read it AGAIN! I mentioned GamePark not GameParkHoldings..Gamepark wants to compete commercially

I'd like to see them accomplish anything against a little Korean company like Gamepark. But those matters aside, it's a moot point since it just won't happen. GP doesn't have the resources or software support to compete with the mainstream systems. They have said themselves-- they designed GPKiDS, XGP and XGP Mini each to fill a NICHE MARKET which they are well aware of-- they even visit forums including this one for input all the time on how to design their systems and adjust their marketing strategy.greenmikey posted on Sep 26 2006 at 04:01 PM said:legal bullshit who knows what would even happen if an open source handheld actually became popular without much of a commercial gaming scene..American legislators would go crazy.
and alot more..
They did some great things back in the 80s and 90s, but that's over and done with now. Sega is just part of a Pachinko company now, and the only real good they do is publish the occasional decent game and rehash of games from their time in the sun. Collection after collection after collection. Sonic Team has become like a slow-motion train wreck that won't end since about 2002. They don't produce any hardware, either. There's really not much more of Sega than a memory.BobBorakovitz said:also, Jarska333 is totally right, Sega is much more than just a mere legend...
The internal hardware was relatively simple since it was built on a System-on-a-Chip like the GP2X. But it would take other persons to work on aspects like hardware design for the case mold, button layouts, arrangement of parts and so forth, another (at LEAST) for the embedded OS work, so forth. One person designing the whole system would probably not go so hot. There probably was only one tongue.gif
*runs*
That is all obviously propaganda! I refuse to believe!Epicenter posted on Sep 26 2006 at 11:13 PM said:...
