We'll see if it solves user's troubles.
Section "Screen"
Identifier "DisplayLinkScreen"
Device "DisplayLinkDevice"
Monitor "DisplayLinkMonitor"
Modes "800x600" "1024x768" "1280x1024"
DefaultDepth 16
EndSection
My xorg.conf:Did you edited xorg.conf and added the max resolution, e.g:
Section "Screen"
Identifier "DisplayLinkScreen"
Device "DisplayLinkDevice"
Monitor "DisplayLinkMonitor"
Modes "800x600" "1024x768" "1280x1024"
DefaultDepth 16
EndSection
I use the original xorg.conf.displaylink and change the name to xorg.conf, reboot and test the adapter. Works with 1024x768 only. Not the exact same syntax.
Maybe try mine, then retry xrandr.
Same problem. It takes ages to boot and then I could only log into a terminal.Mmm you should set up your adapter without auto X.
Edit /etc/inittab and change
id:5:initdefault:
into
id:4:initdefault:
Then log and use startx .
