But it is that way at this point in our world....it is deplorable but it is rampant. Maybe something or someone [Jesus] the Messiah will arrive and set it all straight again??!! Maybe UFO'S will return? SOMETHING please...I agree.
Maybe you can stop making fucking excuses for peoples bad behavior, saying "that's just the way it is" and call people out on it when they behave that way. If you don't like it THEN SAY SOMETHING. This is not a difficult concept. You don't need some mystical outside force, all you need to do is stop making excuses, stop acting like it is what it is and there is nothing that can be done to change it. That is what I've been saying from the start: if it is bad behavior, regardless of how emotionally warranted that behavior may have been, don't pretend like the people engaging in the behavior had no choice, that their actions are completely absolved because "that's how it is". Call them on it, point out their bad behavior. No one is going to step in and magically make everything perfect and dreamy and I wouldn't even want that to happen, I just want people to own their actions, good or bad.

There are situations where people don't decide what they do.

There are people who think more and others who think less.

I think that explains everything.

and this response is a perfect example!!! How contradicting. You are a hypocrite.

It was just a scenario...nothing I really believe but some do and I guess you would verbally curse at them too yes?

Nice pleasant language. Now I am done!!

Basically I still fully agree with WizardStan. You are always in charge of and thus responsible for your own actions.

I do feel that that also means that when you do, or neglect to do something, you should not only reckon with the reaction of the x% rational well balanced people but also reckon with the y% less emotional intelligent and the z% pure idiots.

I own a bar and when I tell someone to leave, or that he/she won't get served anymore alcohol I don't assume they will always take it as the majority of normal socially adapted human beings but try to package it in such away that I prevent over reaction by 99% of the people.

The last 1% I KTFO :D (not really, had this place 6 years, not a single fight :) )

I'm not a hypocrite. Everything that I have said I believe, everything that I have written I did so fully conscious of my actions. I do not blame you for anything, at every step along this entire discussion I have made the choice to interact and several times made the choice NOT to interact with you. My choices, my actions; me, not you. No excuses. If you think I have done something wrong then I have done something wrong, nothing that I have said is in any way, shape, or form your responsibility.

I just think your choice of words in the previous post was inappropriate [the F word] and uncalled for and that is an example of the point I was trying to make that you so vehemently disagree with.

Henceforth calling you a hypocrite again.

Then you have not, at any point in the last 6 pages, actually understood what I said. I have never, not once, said that people shouldn't be angry. I have never said that Craig should not have expected backlash. In fact I'm quite certain that if you go back and re-read everything I've written you'll find that I said the opposite, that people are right to be angry and that backlash was an expected outcome and that Craig could have done a lot of things to mitigate that outcome. What I have said from the start, what I am still saying, is that Craig is not responsible for those actions, that just because it was expected does not excuse the people who did them. If you think my choosing to curse at you is in direct contradiction to anything I've said on the subject thereby making me a hypocrite then you are simply an idiot, and I regret ever deciding to interact with you.

The owner active or inactive is totally responsible for all feedback good or bad.
If your boss gives you a hard time and and one day you simply have had enough and beat him up is the boss responsible for your actions? "He was always yelling at me, I had to beat him up".
That's some pretty bad feedback, but I guess the boss is responsible for that since he's the instigator of the emotions, eh?

OR we can call bullshit what it is and that the guy made his own decision to assault the boss. Just because something is expected doesn't mean it should be excused. Stop making excuses for the poor decisions of other people, call them out on it and maybe, just maybe, the day may come when it isn't expected, a day far into the future where writing violent and deplorable emails are so socially unacceptable that people do in fact stop to think about what they're about to send before sending it, and the people that do send them out recognize the mistake they've made and apologize for getting caught up in the moment and acting like an asshole. Wouldn't that be nice, people not being assholes to each other? Not being excused from being an asshole because someone else was an asshole to them first? I think it would be nice.

edit: and just in case there was ever any doubt, I'm not just talking about sending emails here, I'm talking about all bad behavior that people find excuses for. It's still customary to ask a woman who was just raped what she was wearing, suggesting that she is somehow responsible for the actions of her attacker. You walk through a bad neighborhood and get mugged and people say "well what did you expect?": I expect the exact same kind of treatment as if I walked through a good neighborhood and got mugged, I expect the rapist to be captured and punished in the same way regardless of whether the woman was wearing a full body or walking along the street naked, because bad behavior is bad behavior no matter where or why it happens or how common it is.
Yes it would be nice if everyone acted civilly and used the 15% of their brain 100% of the time..in a perfect world yes. The anger examples you cite here are a bit extreme though this behavior happens unfortunately. This ..thank St. Francis.. has not reached that extreme point. People are fallible creatures indeed. Sometimes I wonder if we are the most intelligent. It seems man needs nature but nature does not need man...oh so I rant.

What I am trying to convey is that when MONEY is involved and a product is promised this nasty behavior is to be expected...sad but true. I do not condone it but rather see it as a fact of life. You reap what you sow. I think Craig well deserves any nasty behavior because he himself is exhibiting the same. Again I do think he is directly responsible for this guttersnipe. I wish the world could be devoid of this type of behavior but I do not think it ever will. This is why the prisons are so overcrowded.

I really believe this and cannot fathom any other scenario.  Can we please agree to disagree?
You are confusing several concepts here, which is part of why this gets so weird.

The first thing is responsibility: If I do something bad (send a nastygram, rape a scantily clad girl, burn down your house, eat another burger), is there anyone else who is responsible for this action? My answer (and several others) is no. Never. You are always responsible for your own actions (the usual legal caveats of insanity and coercion excepted). It wasn't your boss, the nudity, the tv ads or Craig who did it - I did it, and I'm responsible. Being a human being, I am not controlled by instincts or spirits.

The second thing is desert: If A does something bad to B, does A deserve being treated badly by B in return? Often, yes. If I scam you out of a hundred bucks, I think I deserve being called a "scammer" by you. I might possibly agree that I deserve angry emails until the money is returned, or (and this is the societally acceptable option) being sued in a court of law. I wouldn't agree that I deserve to have my house burned down and my goldfish tortured. You may disagree, and we might enter into a discussion of desert - Consider these actions, what do I deserve in return? This does not change the factor of responsibility - You are still responsible for making a decision and weighing the factors of what is deserved and not. You may responsibly decide that a particular action is in order, and argue that this is indeed a proper course of action, because this is what the target deserved. It does not mean that the target "made you" do something, or that the target is responsible - Only that it is deserved.

The third thing is the descriptive/prescriptive thing. Are people idiots? Absolutely, to a great degree. Do people do stupid shit that means innocent people get crap for stuff they dont deserve? Sure do. This is a description of the world. It is, however, not a prescription on how to act -  It is not the case that "People generally behave like idiots" leads to the the conclusion "Therefore, it is right and proper to behave like an idiot". If the behaviour of the masses was the gold standard for ethical behaviour, then there would be no need to discuss ethics at all. The world would also be a very depressing place. It is quite possible to acknowledge that people behave like idiots, and at the same time say that it is not OK that they do.

A fourth thing might be the treatment ocf ICP2 ltd as a company, in which all involved share in the doings. That might be a reasonable stance when you're dealing with Sony or IBM which are big faceless entities where you really can't assign individual responsibilites, but ICP2 is not that big. Most of us assume that ICP2 is more or less Craig, Debs and possibly someone more, and that they have rather different roles in the doings of the company - Craig being the one responsible for the doings of the company, whilst Debs is the one bending over backwards to help customers who are affected by Craigs doings. Treating them as equally responsible seems unfair.

So. I think nobody is surprised that Debs got a lot of crap fron anonymous internet jockeys. That is a too common occurence in the world to surprise anyone (descriptive). Most of us would probably agree, too, that the behaviour of Craig means that he could quite rightly have some crap coming his way (desert). Most of us would agree that Debs has been going above and beyond her duties (also desert, but of another kind). Given that Craig must reasonably have been aware of point one, we can say that it adds to his desert/negative karma/whatever that he has put Debs in the position of being mail front, and that means he has a responsibility for her being made a target. However, the responsibility of actually sending a nastygram to Debs is still the responsibility of the individual keyboard jockey.

You have a bar in Amsterdam, very very cool, can you tell the address? When I would be in Amsterdam I would like visit it :) .

Craig is responsible and those guys who wrote the stuff are responsible as well.

For me this is all I need to say.

If you don't believe me, then study psychology and  you'll see some scientific studies which prove I'm right.

those guys who wrote the stuff are responsible.
That is the thing I have been saying for the last 6 pages: whether it was expected or not, whether Craig could have avoided it or not, whether Craig would deserve it if directed at him or not, it is all irrelevant to the point that those that sent the emails are still responsible for their own actions and should not be absolved just because it is expected or deserved behavior.

I know we somehow missed each other.

If you admit that Craig is also responsible we can live happily in peace :) .

That's what I have said...Craig is the cause of this. Run a company poorly and this sort of thing happens. Yes those people are responsible for what they say. Yet that odes not make them necessarily bad people.

So let's all be happy again and stop the discussion.

I've a headache because of the exam I had today and can't discuss any further anyway (at least today).

And always remember:

BE PREPARED

It'a all about choosing your words. You are obviously upset about this so you lash out and curse and call me an idiot because that makes you feel correct....yes totally hypocritical indeed. You have the free will to type what words you choose. Yet you choose to insult. I am the wrath of your anger now apparently..otherwise why would you say those things to me when I am just trying to be herd like you.??

I am your 'CRAIG' here apparently. So please quit the insults even if you have the right to do so.

This is the same example in a microcosm.

I swear I will not do you honor by responding anymore and I wish the  moderator would please close this thread...please.

No, it isn't. Do you even know what "hypocritical" means?

You are saying and doing what you say other people should not  = using profanity towards me and name calling which I am the cause of. You could have disagreed in a different context. Hence me saying I am your Craig.

I am the CEO of your anger and responsible because I continue with this ridiculous argument...as is  Craig with his company since he too continues this behavior.

Don't insult me by insinuating I do not know the definition of the words I use here.

Last comment from me.

No, that isn't what I said at all, ever. I even said in the very post that you quoted that I felt people had every right to be angry and that Craig should have expected backlash.I tried very carefully, re-iterating in almost every single post I made the exact same thing: when you make a choice that choice is yours. Period. That is all. The one and only thing I have ever argued about. No one put a gun to my head and made me call you an idiot, the fact that you are acting like an idiot isn't even forcing me to call you an idiot. I am choosing, of my own free will, to point out that you have inserted yourself into a debate about which you are woefully uninformed and are therefore an idiot. Me, my choice. If you think pointing out that you are being an idiot makes me an asshole then so be it, we can agree to disagree, but it doesn't change the fact that you have spent several pages arguing against something that you didn't understand even when it was proverbially waved right under your nose, in a post which you quoted in full but apparently did not take the time to fully read or comprehend.

There is no hypocrisy there, just you being an idiot.

But, again, that is an explanation, not an excuse.
How about 'there's always someone who'll do anything' ? Stress the 'anything' if you want to emphasis how crazy some people are.
