Dare We Suggest An Approx Timeframe Now?

I think it's about time to go from "Two More Months(tm)" to "two more months".
I think I'll switch to the "A Few More Weeks (tm)" mode. That means I'll be like a rabid dog running around the walls until the pandora arrives. Which will take at least two more months, because I'm so far back in The Great Queue. Why didn't I preorder earlier! :(

So far they have not taken any photos for us, apparently they don't have cameras on the factory floor. We have asked if they could take one in.

Shouldn't they have already been sent off to you guys for testing at this point?

This is not entirely surprising. When I factory work back in high school, we weren't allowed to bring cameras into the plant. Fear of industrial espionage kinda thing. I was making rubber gaskets fer cryin' out loud! If a rubber factory is afraid of their setup plans getting stolen, I can only imagine the security that goes on at a chip manufacturer.

I've already explained this before. These boards will NOT be leaving the factory for a long, long time. They are going to be ripped to shreds testing wise. They are guinea pigs to be subjected to a ridiculously long burn in cycle running newly created test software in order to get the entire test process complete and reduced to the shortest, most automated process possible. They are for the factory to get the assembly process right, not for me to get the design right. That should have been done already. :)

Ah right I'd not seen that mentioned anywhere, all I had seen was Craig saying that they were going to be testing them (I assumed he meant you guys) and then they'd be shipped out as the first models, although after using the term "ripped to shreds" I'm not sure how many people would want one of those specific ones, lol.

Pipe down, you'll jinx it.
I concur, i have now an idea im my mind when its going to be here but if i tell the people at work (who cannot grasp the idea of pre ordering something) I too believe it will only jinx the development.

I don't believe in superstition.

Anyway, so if they are going to stay at the factory for a "long" time, will they have motivation to get a camera in there and send some pictures?

I'm just happy. It's going to be over soon

Or... just beginning...

And I know people that don't believe in evolution. Doesn't make it any less real. :P

Well surely this is better than the GP2X system where you got to be the tester and your PCB literally had a chance of falling to bits? At least you know those first 100 will be rock solid (and thus the next 4k too).

It was mentioned that the first 100 would go out to people for user testing, so it' not hard to imagine the confusion.

I have no issue myself with the change, but it cannot be denied that there was one. One not necessarily mentioned.

I feel much more confident with a team of people destroying these boards then just anybody. Having the factory running the tests make me feel much more confident when the rest get manufactured.

Kind of glad I am not in the first 105.

Seems I wasn't the only one who missed it. ;) For some reason I was also assuming they were on their way to you. Anyway, sounds good. I'll add some notes to the roadmap when I get a chance. I also need to brush up on my post history stalking.

I don't actually think it was mentioned. Probably meant to be, but missed in the busy times they are under. There was definitely a post indicating end users would be testing the original 100. No update about it since then.

I *think* (if my memory serves me correctly), that the post in question was more about something that was being considered, as opposed to anything definite. A number of folks volunteered to do end-user testing if such a thing were to go ahead, but I'm fairly sure it was made clear that nothing was set in stone at the time. :P
