What are the best "short break games"? I mean games you can play for a couple of minutes only, so no save state games.

A game that suits this description I recently discovered on Atari 2600 is Asterix. A fast and fun reaction game.
The problem with games like this, they tend to become boring after the initial addictiveness so I could use some more titles :)

Puzznic - Great pick-up and play game for either 5 minutes or 5 hours, It`s available on many systems via emulation on the GP2x, Such as, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, Gameboy, C64, Nes, PC Engine, Atari ST, Amiga and Mame.

Trooper

Barbarian
Paperboy
Peter Pack Rat
Strip Poker
Sensi Soccer/ Sensi Golf --Just one match or one hole

Hehe, most games suggested are homebrew games. I thought I posted it in emulation ;)
It is true there are some great short break homebrew games. In this category I like Protozoa, almost all games from Quiest, airplyr, GP2X_TLI, blastriot, cavecopter.
Just played Koules2X for an hour or so, don't think I've played it before. Very addictive.

To add one emulated game myself, a great game on the gba that I haven't played for a while. Warioware.

I'm a fan of Excitebike for NES when I have 5 minutes.

Many mid-80s arcade games do the trick as well (Donkey Kong, Galaga, Outrun, Pacman, etc...)

I might agree on excitebike, but I really don't consider galaga, donkey kong and pacman to be short break games. Thats a matter of skill I guess. Once I played more than 1 hour on a Galaga cabinet (had friendly settings and I played it a long time ago) A normal game these days surely will take at least 15 minutes. Great game though, but not for a short break :)

Kirby's Adventure for the NES is great for five minutes, as long as you make sure your NES emulator will save SRAM. That way you can play one level, turn it off, come back later and play another 5-minute-long level.
