Hi,

Here you have the first public version of my Master System and Game Gear emulator for GP2X.

alexkidd.png

I know it is much more slower than DrSMS will be, but I would like to do "my own" emulator and at least it is faster than the other ones.

In this version doesn't work volume control, but I have another one rewritten in minilib, with the help of Rlyeh, in which works but I prefer not to release that until test it properlly.

As it is a first version, it could contain some bugs, so please, report me whatever you find :)

For more information read the file "readme.txt".

You can download it here: AlexKidd2X v0.1

As always, sorry for my bad English

Regards

Works very well, nice menu which for me is a major plus on any emulator.

For me I takes a little to long to fade from the picture in your original post but apart from that it seems fast enough.

This is coming along nicely; it is very fast. Too fast, though-- all games seem to run twice as fast as they should even with the 133 MHz ARM 920T clockrate setting and FM chip emulation enabled. Also, going through menu items requires too much of a delay as you increase a value, like the ARM920T clock, you need to press, wait, press, wait .. so entering, say, '290 MHz' can take way too long. Not that you need a substantial overclock for this to run well, from the looks of it.

Also, PCM audio seems mostly broken, you just hear static. FM is fine.

But I can't tell if it's getting such good performance or skipping lots of frames. Perhaps both. Good work at any rate!

Very nice menu. It does seem to run a little fast. But this is better I think than running slow. Thanks so much, great work!

Thanks Puck. I've been waiting for a nice sms emulator.
BTW: your Spanglish is perfect ;)

As far as I can see, this only needs 2 things to be perfect.

1. Save settings on exit or as default
2. Speed limiter

Great work! I hope to see this one progress further.

2. Speed limiter

Try selecting 0 fps, it should limit speed to 60 fps (original speed) :)

impressive first release !
congratulations.

sound is good, speed is maybe a little too fast, even on frameskip 0.
the only drawback so far is that the emu crashed on exit with the game i tried.
it seems it was an exception which has not occured again so far.

wow. i hadn't even expected it to work as well as it did, but it's great.

but you asked for feedback so i'll just describe the minor issues i saw
- crashed on exit the first couple of times, then afterwards didn't (so maybe half the time)
- sound is generally good but there are some little pops here & there
- i wish the menu options defaulted at fs0 & no scaling, but if not then i wish you could save them.

i played sonic chaos, sonic 2 (which ran a lot smoother), and ninja gaiden.

great work puck!

This is amazing for a first release. Very very awesome! Thank you so much!

Works great despite the lack of volume controls! I have been playing the GameGear Sonic 1 on it, runs great if not a little too fast..

Very nice emulator. It just needs to have menu scrolling be faster (I have hundreds and hundreds of roms) and preference saving. Great work.

This should really be on the front page of gp32x.de, it's a very significant release and at the moment I'd call it the most usable SMS/GG emulator for the platform.

EDIT: ...aaand submitted.
