Very nice emulator. It just needs to have menu scrolling be faster (I have hundreds and hundreds of roms) and preference saving. Great work.

Have you tried using the shoulder buttons instead.

This is one of the best emulators around on the GP2X, even at this early stage. Been playing it for the last couple of hours, and the games run great.

Great work Puck.

Have you any more projects lined up?

Too fast? ... my thoughts are it's running a 60Hz, and anyone saying it's too fast is either used to playing the PAL SMS, or used to playing the slower emulator >_>

It looks fine, speedwise IMO.

I agreewith you about the speed, PAL sucked.

Graphic wise, I've played on various emulators on the GBA ( dont laugh) and this plays better than all of them, especially Enduro Racer, no break up or clashing at all.

As I said before, top job Puck.

It does run at correct speed with Frameskip setting 0. But I can't think of why European systems would run the games slower, since there was no lower refresh rate (50hz vs. the US/Japanese 60hz sync rate) to match with an internal LCD. The Game Gear didn't connect to TVs after all.

But Master System did.
Both Master system and GG ran at 60Htz but PAL tv systems could only process at 50Htz.I think it was more to do with PAL having a higher scanline, hence the black borders and slower framerate. But then again that's probably me spouting BS.

the PAL SMS would have just been slowed to 50Hz to match the TV display... the same thing with the NES, etc.
PAL60 is only a fairly recent thing.

All I know is that the games play great , and that's what's important.

The emulator should run at 60 fps as it was NTSC (or PAL60). Maybe some games run slower but I have to optimize it more.

At the moment I have a new "development version" without SDL that runs a 15% faster (and has volume control) :)

Yes. The speed for up and down is just fine, but the speed for the shoulders is too slow. This emulator could also use a cleaning up of how the menu and options are arranged, especially save states.

As far as emulation, though, I see no problems at all. This system might even benefit from anti-aliased scaling filters (like GnuBoy would).

Thanks for this fast emulator. Also it seems to have saving so at last I'll be able to play-through a non-keyboard version of Ultima 4. Volume control would be good... Ultima 4 seems to have really loud music.

the only drawback so far is that the emu crashed on exit with the game i tried.
it seems it was an exception which has not occured again so far.
yeah... just mine happened more than once

Rockin'

Wonderboy and Ultima 4!!

Nice design and seems to be running very well at the moment.

Humm.... am I the only one who has sound problems?
The sound stutters a bit on my unit.

I don't want to moan (it's a very impressive first release), I just want to know if everything is fine with my unit...

Uhm, it could be possible, only wait a few for second release in one or two days time, it has a better sound (44 KHz) and it's also faster.

Might I suggest a different name? .. It sounds like a clone of Alex Kidd at first glance, that's what I was sure it was. It didn't give me high hopes for the quality of whatever laid in wait for me when I clicked the link to this thread. ;)
