3G / Wifi Module / Box?

yes, a Linksys AE1000 N wifi takes full advantages of bandwidth, VNC works nicely, i use it very often

Jey123456 (who ported the specicic driver) seems to get 40-50 megabits out of his connection
Did you mean this one? USB N Device Amazon

Cause it seems sticking out of the pandora sideways might be a bit odd.

yes, that's the one, bought myself a refurbished unit, working fine so far

it's odd, pandora has a dick now
Before I buy it is there no version with a bending one that lets you stick it straight up? Also do you thin if my connection at home is good enough I could play Portal on the go?

i really don't know, you'll have to look for RT3572 chipset wireless devices

i also don't know about Portal, but i think VNC isn't suitable for high res graphics (heavy), unless you don't mind screen refreshing time. It will depend on your upload bandwidth, which seems to be low, in general
I can upload @ 1MB/second and if I have the game set to 800x480 do u think I have a shot?

an 1MB upload is very good imo, maybe you could try first with a desktop computer and the N adapter. If it works, it should also work in pandora, but again, i don't know Portal and how graphic intensive it is...
Well Portals Engine is pretty old and from Portal 1 to 2 they barely did anything just added MSAA 8x support. And yes our internet provider did not put a cap on ours we cannot get T1 speeds but we are pretty fast :)

What happens if you just use your LAN? If you have a wireless-N router and only stream from a local machine shouldn't you eliminate the bottleneck? I don't want to use my internet anyway because it is definitely to slow (satellite sucks). I know that this does not solve the problem on the move, but I don't care as long I can mess around at my house. That would be the best. I could play everything!

I will be getting my Pandora very soon and I intend to test that too I like to watch TV on my bed and it would be awesome to control my PC from my Pandora around my house.

Would a wireless USB N based device work faster than regular wifi? I'm trying to get the connection as fast as possible for a VNC client.

For 3G mobile broadband I wouldn't expect it to make a difference. The fastest 3G mobile broadband services only offer a fraction of the bandwidth of 802.11 G based wifi, so unless your built in wifi is seriously screwed up you shouldn't notice a difference.

i have to say this works beautifully, Pandora has been my PC remote control for the last 10 months
SO it turns out my Upload speed is slower than I thought it shows on a benchmark like 125 kilobytes per second :( . Anyway can this USB based N device be plugged into my regular computer and be used as a host for my Pandora? so I can use the VNC client in my house?

first i have to apologize, my answer was rather incomplete.

I see two approaches here:

1) Pandora as a remote control in your home network

=> requires a router to share your connection between your PC and other devices. The upload bandwidth here is router-wise (virtually 150Mbps in N mode). Even internet connection wouldn't be necessary. It's merely a home network,

2) Pandora as a remote control outside your home network

=> Router not mandatory, although DynDNS service highly recommended (will turn your external IP into an address like tylerAW.homelinux.net). Here your upload speed counts. 125kB/s is ok for a simple VNC session, but expect some lagginess

hope i made myself clear, feel free to ask
I'm not sure I know what you just said :p I just want my Pandora to send inputs to my computer and my computer to send back the images to my Pandora while I'm say laying on my bed and too lazy to get up.

The problem is our router is shared I thought it would be faster if my computer had some type of USB wifi device plugged in to send it's images to my Pandora.

Option 1 then.

You'll definitely need a router. You should buy one for your pc only. Mine is a D-Link DI-524, it all depends on how shared is your current router, maybe it will suffice

on second thought, i think your current router would do the job
Can the device I bought work? SO my computer has it plugged in and provides a hot spot for my Pandora in my room?
