Scummvm For The Wiz: Early Alpha.

I am trying to track down these odd crashes as they are what is holding up a new alpha and saves are still flaky (Grrrr!) but controls, volume and a few screen issues are fixed and all in all it is looking a fair bit more robust. I also started pushing all the re-factoring I have done for the...

Scummvm For The Wiz: Early Alpha.

I link to the Tremor lib in the firmware dynamically. I guess that is borked somehow, I guess I am either going to have to consider static linking the whole thing or shipping libs as odd bugs are coming up all over the place with the hackjob set of libs GPH shipped in the firmware ;). Mind...

Scummvm For The Wiz: Early Alpha.

I opened scummvm.stderr.txt and it was completely empty, so no help there. Also, I need to correct myself, it doesn't immediately crash--it shows the Lucasfilm Games logo for about half a second and then crashes. It runs just fine on my computer so the data files shouldn't be the problem...

Scummvm For The Wiz: Early Alpha.

I'll try and get the volume control hooked up for the next release (for now the vol up/down still call into GP2X code that does not really do a lot on the Wiz ;)) SoMI should run just fine but i'll confess I have not tested it. I'll dig it out and give it a go. Was there anything in your...

Scummvm For The Wiz: Early Alpha.

After finally finding a few hours to clean up code I have had laying around on my hard disk for months I have made up a public alpha release of ScummVM for the Wiz. You can find all the info on my site including download links, setup info and known issues. This really is an early alpha so...

The Reason There Is No Full Firmware Update

Same for me, after 2 runs (1st seemed to work but it panicked at the end of the cat of the massive vfat virtual partition that they seem to write straight to a chunk of NAND ) it now seems my pre-release Wiz is happily running all of the 1.0 firmware not some hacked up halfway house...

    Recompile Source To Arm

Just in case your interested I built PostgreSQL 8.1.8 (the current preferred build for ARM when using Open Embedded) and it works fine on the Pandora (I was using it to try logging some test data). I'll try and remember to make sure it is pushed up to the final software repositories so you...

    New Firmware For Wiz

Assuming that I did the upgrade on my dev Wiz correctly (and in fairness I SEGFAULT'ed it about a dozen times trying ;)) then the v1 firmware broke something in ScummVM. Shame really as that sort of screws up sending out a beta, oh well, gives me something to look at over the next few days

Clutter User Interface (that''s What It''s Called)

Yep, I have a fondness for Clutter and have messed about with it a lot on both my Beagle and Pandora (and plenty of other kit), I really should do some demos of the sort of interfaces you can build with it esp. as the OpenGLES aspects of it are all working quite well these days on the Pandora...

    3d Demos

Full 800x480. Not tried 400x240 but it is something to consider. Well the default clock gets set to 55MHz due to the recent (ish) changes in the Linux OMAP clocks framework. That said, running it at 110MHz is a trivial fix, just not something I have put in the images yet. Pretty sure I had it...

    Mobile Broadband

Just tried an E160 on the Pandora, it seems to work exactly the same as the E220 with one important difference. It is a native USB2 high-speed device so no need for a hub. Just plug it in and away you go. CODE usb 1-2: new high speed USB device using ehci-omap and address 2 usb 1-2...

    Mobile Broadband

Nope, the Pandora USB 2 PHY is EHCI only (i.e. USB2 high-speed) so to connect 1.0/1.1 (OHCI/UHCI) devices a hub is needed to deal with the step down side of things. In other news I have just arranged to buy and borrow a selection of USB 3G dongles to try them on the Pandora and see if any of...

    Mobile Broadband

If anyone is interested I posted some stuff on Mobile Broadband with the Pandora on my weblog (blogs.distant-earth.com). I am even posting this from my Pandora connected via 3G/GPRS. John

    Mobile Broadband

I'll try and do a demo with my E220 sometime. Had it going before, in fact I started to write a blog post on it but it is lost in my drafts somewhere ;).

    Glquake Is Alive!

Mind you, the entire userspace still being ARM OABI and the fact that the GL lib does not seem like the only odd area is not exactly helping things. Hardware is definitely ahead of software right now (and read into that whatever you want ;))

    Compile For Pabdora Under Pandora?

Well you can add whatever open source GUI coding front-ends you desire if your prepared to compile them up or wait for packages to turn up ;). I have mulled the idea of shipping a basic GCC compiler and supporting tools in the image. Those tools have been in the test images for some time now...

    Blog Update 1/13/09

We are still migrating some of the repositories in from other GIT hosts used during development (like my old GITHub repros) so the Open Embedded metadata, environment stuff and X-Loader will go over as soon as I have a few hours free ;).
