Hmm No One's Talked About Osnes Or Gen For Awhile

my sig is better
yes it does go to 256
and stays there for a while too
i bet it could go higher
maybe mr. mirko will make a new version to support higher

Im pretty sure 256 is the max speed of the Arm9 processor in the gp32. Mine goes up to 256 and stays there for almost the full life of the batteries. I managed to get the clockspeedtest to go for about 2 hours at that speed, not sure if the batteries were full when I first put them in or not.

I thought it was 266mhz. Not that it matters.

So which IS the best genesis emu right now? DrMD yes?

What's the scoop on it then? Does it run 100% speed or you must run frameskip to get there? At what clock speed on the gp32 will the emu possibly run full speed without frameskip?

The main reason I have ordered a BLU is the hopes to have a full speed genesis and tg16/pc engine emu running on it. Hopefully I wont have to mod mine to run 166mhz :( but I will if need be and maybe turn it up some more past that as well... I gotta have these emus at full speed if it is at all possible!

Genesis emulation is full or just about full speed with sound currently at 156mhz (I haven't really tried 133, though). Yes, DrMD is currently the best emulator out there. At the moment, there are some sound issues (some plays too fast, some a little slow, and some doesn't play at all), but the new version of DrMD should fix these issues, I think. And it appears the new version isn't too far off now. :D

You picked a very good time to enter the scene if Genesis emulation is what you're after. :)

heh... yeah it seems I've picked the perfect time to get into the GP32 in general.

I've been so close to getting one for like the past 2 years, or almost that long. But the lack of a lit screen, and few commercial games and emu's... well it was pretty bleak. I thought the thing would just go away after a short time, but it persisted, I keep seeing it on lik sang, and then every so often I see some mention of it running something new, like a new emu, or doom port...

Buying a Nintendo DS and being less than thrilled with it was the final straw though... just some things about it I'm not too thrilled with. Reminded me to check back in on the GP scene and man it was the perfect time. I think the GP will be my favorite handheld yet.

The new version will not have any emulation fixes. I have not done any work on the md emulation since the last release, I've been working solely on the UI. So don't expect any games to run any better in the next version.

Just thought I'd mention this, in case anybody got their hopes up. ;) We wouldn't want a load of people whining that their favourite game still doesn't work or anything like that would we.

Ressy- Dr. Md is indeed a fantastic emu. A new version with saves states and zip suppost would make you a god amongst men :)

Thanks for your hard work

I can't wait to try it :D

Reesy, is there going to be future work on the emulation itself? Or are you pretty much done with it after this? Is there much left you can really do, as far as actually improving the emulation, in your oppinion?

Damn you Lik Sang SEND OUT MY GP ALREADY!!!!!

Huge thanks Reesy your emulator makes the gp32 for me. Keep up the good work.

There's tons to do on the md emulation, DrMD is far from perfect at the moment. Once I've got got the UI done I can get to work on improving the emulation and make an "attempt" at finding those last few bugs in the Cyclone Core ( Unless Fdave has found them all already )

I much prefer working on the emulation stuff, rather than the UI which is soooo boring. But at least once its done... its done... if you know what I mean, whereas the emulation will always need a little bit more work. I'm still working on the emulation for my Master System emulator and that project has been going for years. But it doesn't matter because its fun :)

one thing i have noticed about reesy, and many (though certainly not all) emu authors/hb devs in this scene is that they will stick to a project and get it working pretty damn well, maybe never complete but always rather impressively (also rlyeh, skeezix, etc).

(of course, not to take away from the "less than complete" project authors.. it's always important to recognize the fact that we're getting donations here, anyway you slice it.. )

Not many developers consider their work ever finished, judging from the fact, that many seemingly perfect programs are still 0.9 or something....

On emulator side, how many 1.0's are there?

heh... I never would have expected someone to really say programming these things is fun! But then, I really dont know a thing about what goes into doing it, either. I know most guys who I've chatted with or have seen post on forums seem almost kinda... grumpy or something like they really aren't having fun with it at all, more like they are doing a job like real work but minus the pay.

Many of them only see the project half way thru and then drop it, which always sucks. Glad to see there's a few dedicated guys working with what is sure to become my new favorite system :) and VERY glad to hear that Reesy's will continue working on the emulation and there will be an even better DrMD soon enough.

Guess I better look at ebaying off my three Nomad systems!
