PAX East Newcomers

In total, there were 4 units sold at the convention, one of those was a 1st Batch to ReBirth upgrade.  Sunday evening post PAX, a unit sold to a Massachusetts resident, so I'm guessing the PAX may have sparked that sale too.

I'm also noticing an increase in sales since Sunday.

I think I was the one interested in the GHZ edition earlier but ended up going for a rebirth on Sunday!

I had no idea there would be a pandora booth at PAX East this year. I haven't been luking much on the boards recently so i missed that there were upgrades possible.

It was sad to see my first batch unit go but the rebirth pandora has been great!

^Link, I passed off information to ED about the guy from Redhat/Blogger at opensource.com about his interest in an interview.

And we should all thank TrashyMG for helping out at the booth last weekend.  His help was needed and I'm grateful he could come out and pick up the slack.

Hello! This is Seth of Subaltern Games--the one who said he might be interested in development. I'm making Neocolonialism, a Marxist strategy game (subalterngames.com) in pygame. Some initial questions:

  • How to get started?
  • Given that, among other things, I'm coding the game in xubuntu, how much of the code would likely need to be modified?
  • I can't easily afford the machine itself. At what point would this be a problem?

How to get started?
Write your game.
Given that, among other things, I'm coding the game in xubuntu, how much of the code would likely need to be modified?
Pygame already works. The only thing to change is screen size. Target a fullscreen 800x480 resolution and you should be golden, it'll run on the Pandora exactly the same as it does on any other Linux distro.
I can't easily afford the machine itself. At what point would this be a problem?
It shouldn't be a problem ever. If all else fails just ask someone to test for you when you're finished.

^ Like WizardStan states it should be easy to find someone to test your software, I suggest posting a message in the development section and someone knowledgeable should help you there.. Also once done we can help you with packaging it into a PND file for easy use on the Pandora..

Also to note our central repository does allow for commercial products and has hooks to attach a paypal account to sell software, you can easily set a sale price and such. Of course you're free not to use the repository, it's just a nice central place to obtain software for the Pandora.
