W.I.P for MAME GP2X 2.4 to be released soon:

1. Added Squidge MMU caching hack, to have faster access to video memory (video blitter is faster) and high memory (e.g. Neo·Geo biggest games like Metal Slug run faster).
2. Optimizations in M6809 cpu core.
3. Compiler optimization flags (CPS-1 games noticable faster).
4. Command line support for future external frontends, thx to Zaq01.
4. Controls fixed in Millipede, thx to Slaanesh.
5. Graphics fixes in Gauntlet.
6. Controls fixed in Tehkan World Cup.

Glad to see the continued updates!

Little story here. Just showed my brother (in his 20's) the GP2X running Mame. I loaded up Jackal for him (It was one we played all the time growin up) and used the flip-screen mode and gave it to him to play. He played that one game for an hour straight. I came back and said "Are you done?", and he replies "yeah, man hold on this is my last game" and I say "Sure it is, just like a junkie's last hit".

They should re-name GP2X to "Pocket Crack".

Yeah, there are so many. And count Rush'n attack and Track and field too :)

However, I've a request. Could you change the controls of "Track and field" (trackfld) to use the buttons instead of the stick to control? With that stick the game is just not enjoyable... :(

Glad to see you back at work after a well deserved break Franxis. New updates sound good--more speed is always a good thing. One question though; did the 1942 freezing bug after level one ever get fixed?

Does Bomb Jack work again?
It runs ok with MAME GP2X 2.3 (it was broken in MAME GP2X 2.2). It will be playable also in the new version :p

I have taken an small break due to a overload in my real work  . Also because i haven't got interesting progress in MAME during these weeks.

1942 still freezes. I don't know the reason...

I haven't taken delivery of my GP2X yet, but I'm curious if Tron plays on Mame Gp2X? How I love that game...

Hi Franxis, I think that your work with gp2x mame is AMAZING...
I have a little annoying question for you :)
Do you think that Mexico86 will be sooner or later playable?
thanx

I remember there were some rumblings of some of the games that don't have any sound were going to be updated. I think Slaanesh was messing with those. Has that been given up on?

Great work once again Franxis!

re: these optimizations in the M6809 core - with 'Double Dragon bootleg' running on 3x 6809s do you know if it runs noticably faster than v2.3 ??? dying to know, I spent many a happy day skipping school playing that old favourite in the bus station :)

I want this game to play smoothly as well =D It's way shorter that I remember it, but it sure is a great game.

I have found that Rainbow Islands doesn't work properly for me. The sprites appear too low on the screen (inside the tiles), and you can only move up the rainbows when walking right, not left?? Hopefully sound will come later for it.

Keep up the great work! Can't wait for the next release.

Would it be possible for games that originally used both a joystick and a spinner (eg both trons) that the spinner is mapped to the shoulder buttons?

This has already been done in Ikari warriors so I assume it should be fairly easy.

Cheers and keep up the awesome work, I will be donating very soon!

Yes, Double Dragon (bootleg) runs quite well now (at 280 MHz). :D

Excellent, it just happens that Double Dragon and Xain'd Sleena are 2 of my favorite games....

Thanks Franxis...

Hi again Franxis.. :)
I don't want to bother you with my silly questions, but what about a playable Mexico86 in mame? Do you think it's possible?

Hi Franxis, great work on Mame! I was wondering if you intend to include these features:

1) "tab" menu like in pc-mame
2) save different configuration for each game

thanks!!!

don't panic DaveC,
i like you read somewhere that one of the GP2X MAME team was adding sample support.
i'll see if i can find the associated post.
it mentioned that the addition of samples was relatively easy when compared to full emulation.

i for one can't wait,
i'm sure i'm not alone.

all is good eh?

THANK YOU FRANXIS, good to see work is still continuing:)

GaRy:)
