Hu6280 Audio Fixed!

And to think its not even finished yet. Vobbo is good at optimising! He may oneday get it even faster slightly! I think that Vobbo should not spend all his time on RAINE/MAME once this is nearly finished but finish it completely. Then move onto MAME/RAINE completely. The nthis would becoem the first truly complete GP2x emulator. Hell we don't even have nes perfect and lag/bug free yet!

The sound is not absolutely perfect (I think a sound channel is missing...could be wrong)

I've noticed this too (eg. Street Fighter 2 has no fight sound effects). Seems a channel was dropped between beta 1.0 and 1.01.

Still amazing work though, the audio sounds much better than before! :D

EDIT: ok while i was writing this one, I see xythen noticed the same thing and got there before me :) street fighter 2? now there's one to try!

original post:

this is sounding much better today, and running nice and fast too!

I have noticed something unusual though - when i tried Chase HQ with this fixed sound release the music is nice and clear now but the digitised speech is missing. It was there on the first sound enabled release though!

at the beginning of the game where you see the radio being tuned in, there should be a sample of Nancy saying "This is Nancy at Chase HQ We've got an emergency here." - there is something atm but its like a crackle.

The music is obviously a lot better though in all games. Out Run is such a good conversion and sounds so much better with the audio bug fix. Good job Vobbo!

... so, I ask again: Should button-config in the .ini work already? Doesn't seem to change anything for me

Some other odd sound behavior exists such as the certain aliens that "pop" in Galaga 88/90. They are supposed to make a popping sound, but instead make a very strange noise (play it and listen!)

Hey, it is near perfect however...and that is really amazing. It has taken many folks much longer to get TG16 emulation down at all.

BTW: If I can add a few fixerupper ideas/requests:

- A fix for the graphical glitch in Dungeon Explorer. The enemies have an odd glitch.

- Zip rom support

- Ability to navigate directories (so I can keep my Jap and USA sets seperate but still access them from within the emu)

- Turbobooster support (this was a game save/battery adapter for the TG16 that allowed games to be saved that way. Dragon's Curse, Chew Man Fu, and other games used it ) Heck, even better than this would be save states.

- A better exit routine then the current one (you must open a rom on the list to get to exit the emu)

That's all I can think of for the moment. Again, awesome job. I was just playing Dragon's Curse (great game btw) and it just rocks on the GP2X!

Hey man! We play the games with the button config that Vobbo wants!

j/k! I can't get the button config in the ini to work for me either.

i've always enjoyed pce ... this emulator has already got the gp32 one beat

the interface is classy! huge ups to vobbo!

can't wait to see where this goes :) savestates would make MILITARY MADNESS dream come true

I found sound didn't work for Gradius for some reason but this is getting better and better.

I donated a little something to you today, not much but hopefully enough to say thanks. ^_^

fyi, vobbo: if you aim for perfection, you may want to try Ninja Spirit too. See if you can get those voice samples working ;), e.g wolf howling at intro, dying screams...

Just keep it up, but don't forget to sleep :p

Wow - what a great release! v1.02 beta is really fantastic. I've been watching the rapid development of Hu6280 and now it looks like Vobbo's produced a really nice and highly compatible emulator.
Of course what makes it even better is that if you are a big PC Engine fan then it's like have the GT Express that you never could afford!

I'm a huge PC Engine fan myself, I have... mmm... loads of original games sitting on my shelf but I can't get use of the TV as often as I would like, so handheld emulation is for me, a saviour.

With CD support it's going to be even better - I can't wait to play through Drac X again! :)
I'm also looking forward to play Order of the Griffon - I gave it a quick bash and it seems to run okay. AFAIK, no other handheld PC Engine emulator can play this.

At this moment in time I would like to ask for you to possibly implement the rom ram function so populous works :D I have also noticed the menu is a bit wrong, the numbers and some of the A games start at the bottom of the list.

Yet again the community is blessed with an amazing dev who is loving what he is doing best. Praise be to Vobbo

Hi Vobbo
great realease even if I can't try it as I'm at work. I'm really happy to make a little donation for your project and hope you'll continue to work so hard. Maybe you can tell us what will be your next projetc after finishing Hu6280 ? :D

Yes, thanks vobbo. Greatest release of your emu. Many of my favorite games are really playable with sound.
I'll make a donation soon !
I can even play some kind of splatterhouse turbo... joy!
The poll idea on your website is great too.
I'm for an improved sound and savestates.

keep vobboing this way.

Great work Voddo, your emulator is getting better with every release. But it would be nice if I could change
the button config in your frontend so some games would be easier to play. keep up the good work. :)

Gawd, these changes are coming thick and fast... very exciting :D
I can't believe we've gone from no sound, to great sound in just a couple of days.
Keep up the great work Vobbo
