Same moves.. same goals.. Kick Off 2 was by far the better of the overhead football games. Even Goal had more about it. Why is Sensi the best thing in many people's eyes? Tell me!

Because it was easy to get into. The Kick off series took time to master but was rewarding once mastered.

Scenario 1: A friend comes over:

Friend: Lets play a soccer/football game.

You: Ok I have Kick Off 2.

10 minutes later you win 5 - nill.

Friend: This F#*@ing SUCKS!!!

Scenario 2: A friend comes over:

Friend: Lets play a soccer/football game.

You: Ok I have Sensible Soccer.

10 minutes later you win 5 - 4.

Friend: Hehe, let's play again.

I hope you're not talking about the new 3D Sensi, as that looks to be a steaming pile at best. The Genesis one though, pure gold. So simple, so entertaining, truly one of my favourite 16-bit games, and favourite football game (besides the PC Fifa '98) that I have ever played.

So, what about it don't you like? Don't say the graphics, because they're very effective and give not only a beautiful look but add a lot to the gameplay/tactical element.

kick off: you could score from the kick off with just one kick of the ball :)

ah memories, i prefered kickoff back then but sensi now.

as for most playable sports sim, that would be either winter sports or deer hunter

The original top-down. I actually like the graphics, they're great! Pixel-loveliness! It's the rigidness of the gameplay that I'm not a fan of. For example, 45 degree passing all the time.. I'm not trying to be controversial, it just didn't resemble football to me. It probably wasn't meant to, but I wanted it to! I don't know how you can use the word 'sim' to describe it, Gruntfuggly!

On a side note, can anyone remember the infamous Football Glory? All the magazines gave this Sensi rip-off amazing scores.. only to later admit that it was crap! Did anyone actually see a streaker on it? Did anyone play it for long enough?

You can pass to angles other than straight/45, if a teammate is in the proximity of the pass, the angle is automagically changed to meet that teammate.

a rare sensi gp32 post'

just wanted to wade in with whoever thinks kick off is better than sensible soccer should be shot in the face, close range with either: -

a)handcannon
b)stringfellows member

also the new sensible is a huge disapointment, but hell what did we expect from jon hare who has done nothing but tat for the last god knows how many years.
way to vomit all over a classic codemasters.(again)

You can pass other than 45 by using after touch on the ball to curve it away.

My vote goes to Unsensible Soccer (Apples vs Oranges) from some coverdisk or other

So there's a Sensi-soccer 3d demo on a PS2 mag

And after playing it, my verdict is ....

It isn't that bad.

Obviously not as good as the 2D version, the controls and the after touch system are different.

But it was easy to get into and felt very similar to the original.

The only gripe I have is you now need to allow the players time to turn round after receiving a pass before they shoot in the direction you're pressing the stick.
I don't remember that from earlier versions, but I may have rose tinted specs B)
