Hu6280 Alpha 0.96 Available!

AH! Another Release without sound :(

How much more perfect does the video have to be before you release a version with sound?

As a fellow programmer I know that sound can be the bain of any good program but come on 60 fps at 200mhz IS perfection and I dont think anyone here would mind loosing one or to fps to have sound implemented.

Im usualy not one to complain or even mention this kinda thing but I loved my Turbo GFX16 when I was a lad and having it this close to being back in my hands is just to much to bare.

$20 to you if you can have sound by the next release... granted I would be happy to give you the money if you just pm me a version with sound enabled. ;)

I suppose that Vobbo is trying to get the main emulation so fast that when he adds sound it doesn't slow down too much. Plus maybe his sound code isn't started until he gets the rest as good as possible. Let's just hope that he backs up his source code so everything isn't lost like Gp-engine source was in a HDD problem causing saves to never be implemented ;)

It makes sense and I can see it but yeah I would use this and donate for it if it had some sound. I just can't play games without it, it loses so much. Even if I had to OC a bit for the sound until optimised more I think it would be a good option now especially since there is a menu option to toggle it. But that is fine, the day will come, sound will be enabled, and my donation will be enabled too :p . I am anxious for sound but I can wait, good progress Vobbo, thanks for the hard work so far.

I would love sound too of course, but this is a great emulator to play while I'm in bed and the gf is sleeping! Thanks for your hard work Vobbo!

Hi vobbo!
I still cannot try thi version (far away from home..) just one question:

is the control of the lcd timing improved, or still it wash the screen with fw 1.4/2.0?
Thanks a lot, with that and sound (and cd-rom support of course! ;) ) you can absolutely count on my donation!

The speed is cool even at 200MHz! You really know how to optimize :)

The only thing that is spoiling the fun for me (cept for the lack of sound) is the scanlines. You seem to be setting the cpu speed no matter if the user changes it so that the lcd settings I tweaked using the cpu speed app get overriden. Could you please avoid changing the lcd settings? The weird thing is that at 200MHz the scanlines are there, but at 250MHz there are none..

Sound please....I do plan to donate, as many others do.....

but the sound is so essential....I can't live without that little head bobbing noise that bonk makes , or the old music from vigilante, or that gay sound keith courage makes when he strikes his sword, or the awesome music from devils crush......so many games.....so little time.... :p

I think that vobbo should just use the newest Clockspeed changing code and set the LCD clock to 2 UPLL and I don;t know what gamma. 0.6?

He should not be messing with the LCD settings at all. Just leave them default. There are so many different FW and hardware versions that setting for one unit will look bad for other units. Just leave LCD settings alone and let the user set them. Not everyone has the same unit.

I agree 100% with that.. I mean guys, now we have

1) the embedded firmware lcd utility
2) the script launched before any app
3) the emulators which takes control of the lcd

...and still I cannot change the lcd freq in games!

Maybe it's better let everyone choose what is better for himself.

seeing how many people are complaining about the lack of sound of this otherwise killer emu, this is going to be one of the most anticipated releases in gp2x history :D

MAME messes with the LCD settings too. I don't understand this logic. We have the LCD settings utility in the FW to set that, or the script. Why not just let those settings carry over to the emus, games etc so that the setting that is best and we set in the utility STAYS when we load an app. It is annoying as hell to tweak the settings to perfection in the utility only to have some app ignore them and blow everything to hell and make the LCD wash out, flicker etc. MAME even overrides scripts so you CANT set it the way it looks best, you just have to accept the settings that look good on Franxis unit, even if they look bad on ours ;)
