Gba Emulation

Personally, I think the XGP will do a much better job at emulating snes, even though its got the same amount of ram, and same speed processor. With a bit of luck and a bit of magic, we'll hopefully be able to pass a number of things to stuff like the 3D engine and take the work load of the main processor. I've been trying a few techniques on the Gizmondo, and using OpenGL is faster than writing direct to the frame buffer.

sounds like your giving up on snes?

Yes; this guy does not sound particularly dedicated to the idea and all he is concerned with is 'profit'? That's unfortunate. All the best emulators I've seen came from developers with a genuine affection for the hardware, not a desire to make money from it.

Oh well. GBA can remain a pipe dream for now, but I wouldn't worry that much. It will eventually get emulated, but it may be a very long time is all.

But then we will be stuck playing with a crap analog stick and a stretched out 16:9 display. If we want crap like that we could just get a PSP and do that right now.

Precisely. PSP has very good SNES emulation right now, but it's a terrible system overall for emulation.

Pfffft dont see how its a terrible system and the smoothing compensates for the stretched screen or you could just play it 1:1

crap analog stick.....HAHAHAHAA dude you are a GP2X owner right people in glass houses shouldnt throw stones ;)

PSP even got N64 emu on it it runs slow as hell but it has it, much to my annoyance but my psp fanboi of a cousin glee and delight

Seriously annoyed on the GBA front the guy even sells his GBA emus for PC!!!!! Is that even legal?! wish I could code but whenever i try learning I get a headache

I know somewhere out there is coder willing to do this just need to find a apprecitive coder who will appreciate a free GP2X

Sony's open war against its own consumers is what steered me clear of the PSP long enough to find the GP2X.

The D-Pad on the PSP is utter shit too. It feels like I'm playing a sponge. Sure, the 2x's stick sucks, probably as bad as the PSP's... so what? I don't want to spend $200 on a system for homebrew when said system's parent company tries everything in their power to stop development/emulation/ingenuity.

PSP is bollocks for emulation, and the commercial games are just now starting to look *decent*.

Camera could easily plug into the Memstick slot, how does the HDD addon connect?

Maybe they wouldn't have to wage war on their customers if they would sell the hardware at a profit instead of the games, oh wait I wouldn't be caught dead paying $500 for a PSP :), even if games were ~$10-15 new.

I believe he was referring to the Analog stick, which sucks for emulated games, correct me if I am wrong, but I can't think of any of the consoles emulated on the GP2X that used analog, DualShock doesn't count, I doubt Ape Escape would play very nicely on the GP2X yet.

At least there is room in the GP2X for any D-pad mod you want to put in it, I doubt it would be as easy to change the stick on the PSP, see the thread on Radek's mod :).

And even if we eventually need an analog stick we can interface one, there is a HID compliant USB connection, I know I will be using that :D (http://www.retrousb.com/index.html).

as an owner of both gp2x and psp, for overall emulation gp2x has it's advantages because of its ease to use.
psp analog nub > gp2x digital stick
psp dpad > gp2x digital stick
psp suffers from resolution but its superior screen makes up for it
sd cards > memory stick duo's because they are easily half the price
So right now, for emulation gp2x seems to be the wisest system. console wise behind my favorite, the dreamcast, may soon be the ps3. By supporting linux on it's hard disk drive, homebrew shouldn't be to hard to create from day1, unless of coarse sony pulls some bs like they did with the psp but the odds of that happening is small due to linux being open source

Well, it's not host, it's a client. Thus, the camera could be the "host" similar to the downstream data transfers from a comp to a printer. By the way, someone did connect one of those hard drives with an lcd and otg to the psp. Worked, but it's just copying onto the psp's card, no host crap at all.

I agree with the bad GP2X stick.

But you forgot:

GP2X USB HD> PSP

GP2X Divx>PSP
