GOD does this look dorky.

Don't knock it 'til you've tried it.

However, I have not tried it and merely seen others using it. Therefore I officially declare it 'Very silly'.

But people seem to enjoy themselves when playing it.

It's no less dumb than Euro Dance Party Acid Fiend Replay Mix, or whatever that dancing game is called.

Arsenal are 2-0 down. I'm remarkably angry.

[edit]
We've just got a penalty.

[edit edit]
We've just missed. My rage has reached new heights.

Bohica smash.

Arrrgh.

[edit-bloody-edit]
3-0.

Must drink more. Make pain end. So cold. So, so, cold.

Yeah your right it is dorky ;)
Had one for 2 months (Realeased in Europe 1st) great fun with the kids and really wears you out. Hope they make more use of it with other games. They say you can take photos so you can have your own face in the next Tony Hawks game.
Problem is though, i might have to replace the floorboards with all the jumping around :(

No I wouldn't say it is dorky. Even though I hate to admit it sony have actually produced something worth my time, it's an extremely entertaining product. HOWEVER, if find it very annoying that Sony are passing it off as an original idea. I bought a logitec webcam 4 years ago and it had very similar games and ideas included in the software.

Pisses me off that the FIFA 200X mainstream Sony fanboys and girls are on their knees worshiping Sony as some technological god, despite the fact they just copied an ancient idea.

It's an original idea for a console system.

I think the columist had the right idea about it being a family toy. During a trip to the Philadelphia Museum of Science, my little siblings (8 and 6) found this virtual game which involved knocking away soccer balls which only appeared on a television screen (along with yourself). It was a simple blue-screen game. My brother and sister spent around 2-3 hours there.

They also have a Logitech camera, but the games don't work on XP unless we buy an upgrade. =/

Unfortunately, it's already been a big hit wherever it's been sold, thus promoting people to look like idiots everywhere. It's a kids toy being marketed as a teenage idiot's toy. It's not so bad at home but the sad thing is all the shops put it on demo and you have to try your best to avoid not testing it out. I really wouldn't bring comparisons between this and DDR, the only arcade game I can think of that draws comparison is Real Puncher (the Sonic Blast Man sequel where it filmed you and you got punched around and stuff and since you brought up Sony passing off the technology as its own this game came out..1993-ish?). I can imagine it's a good game if you got a room full of drunks or something, but in general the best party games are things like Death Tank, PSO, sports games and maybe the odd bit of Bomberman. This device will only appeal to the extremely uninhibited, those who aren't photo-shy and those who want to impress their friends (how?).

FYI, by extremely uninhibited I mean more than myself, and I make an ass of myself on the DDR machine in the city on purpose with random headbutts and stuff! Bad taste is my middle name! What's more my group of equally uninhibited colleagues had no interest in it either...

Eye-toy is a great game to play when you and your mates are pissed

Those games are fun, my old quick cam came with virtual games like those and i used to play beach ball with the computer, haha its great...

Has anyone here played Police 24/7 in the arcades? (If not, you're missing out on a truely "interactive" game!!!)

Well - If you have, then it's out for the PS2 - 'Nuff zed!

Oh - And yes, I like the eye-toy. At the moment it's a gimmick, but the possibilites are out there to make it something worth getting! (Um - Much like the GP32 in many respects!)

:D

God does this look dorky as hell.

GOD: IF YOU'RE ASKING ME, THE ANSWER IS YES, MY SON. THIS DEVICE DOES LOOK DORKY AS HELL. BUT YOU NEVER REALLY KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT, DO YOU? UNLESS OF COURSE YOU'RE ME, BUT THAT'S JUST THE ADVANTAGE OF BEING THE SUPREME.

GOD: ALSO, TV KIND OF MAKES ME LOOK FAT, WHICH IS A DOWNSIDE. BUT THE WINDOW-WASHING GAME KICKS ASS. SORRY FOR THE DOUBLE-POST, NO ONE'S PERFECT.

Police 24/7 absolutely rocks, it works so well. There's that new Ninja game out in the arcades too, where you use a plastic sword instead of a light gun. In case anyone is wondering I don't mind looking like a twat as long as I'm enjoying myself.

I tried something like this a couple years ago and it was infact horrible. I tried it at some museum in London ON with my friends and we tried this ninja game similar to the one on that page. It SUCKED. 'nuff said.

And how can the eye toy possibly catch on considering it is actually VERY low tech and was released at a horribly bad time for its limited capabilities.

There's plenty of games out there with special controllers that are better...especially in the arcades. Police 9/11 (aka Police 24/7) is kinda dated technology now, Konami's using those sensors for several years now.

Interestingly I don't think there were any new games with special controllers at the JAMMA show (although mind you the JAMMA standard is pretty limited for those things). Okay, well there was that wierd Shamisen Brothers game. But for the sake of arguement I really wouldn't count music games...

Well i have one and i think its really fun. its not meant to be a hardcore game which you sit at for hours, its just meant to be a bit of fun that anyone can play. i took it over to a mates the other day and 3 of us just messed about on it for ages. I think its kewl :p
