On Metal Slug 1 if I set :

# system type? arcade or home
system home

(To set the machine to home console mode..)

in conf/gngeorc

I get a garbled frint screen, gardled help text as it displays how to play stuff, and no display at the top for score lives etc when playing..

Do I have a bad dump or is there a problem with the home setting...?

Thanks
I get the same thing, and the romset works perfectly in arcade mode, so it can't be a bad dump.

Do you have to edit anything in the config to get it work with the uni-bios?

Now that Metal Slug X runs fullspeed even tho without sound people start pulling my GP2X out of my hand, some girls even played some samurai showdown during geography lesson (it was boring as usual, but funny to see them playing such a bloody game). They played quite OK ;D

the roms i try to use without drz80 support just send me back to the main menu. they are zipped, and placed in the 'roms' folder that came with the emu along with system bios (which are unzipped).

what am i doing wrong?

Where do you go to adjust the params (i.e. CPU speed, samplerate) ? I can't seem to get any sound either.....am I missing something?

Other than that, looks and plays GREAT!! :D

EDIT: Nevermind.....figured it out.....now this is just plain AWESOME!!

Do they work with Drz80 version?
Are the roms the known ones to work ?
Do they work on a PC/Mac/Linux with another emulator?

I get the odd problem where I write to the memory card with a card reader, pull it out and the GP2x cant use or see the files (could i be removing it before XP has completed writing/or the GP2x file system has not refreshed to see the changes)...only hapens every now and then...Try putting the roms back on to the card again.

I have this problem yesterday as I starting playing with the uni-bios and taking the graphics out of the Zips, in the end had to rebuild the neo geo directory I had...

Shouldn't be too hard to solve, a few quick Qs:

1) Which games are you having problems with?

2) Are you using the standard config files that came with gngeo6.10 or have you replaced/edited them?

3) Are you using Rage2x frontend?

In XP there should be a small icon in your system tray that looks like a small green arrow, clicking this should bring up a list showing your card reader, from here you can choose something like "safely remove from system". Doing this should force XP to finish writing to the card so you won't lose/corrupt anything.

Also, if you remove the SD card from the gp2x, alter the contents on the PC then put back into the 2x without rebooting it then it doesn't recognise the changes, the files won't be displayed in the menus although they are on the card.

Hope that's of some help :)

I have randomly picked roms to see if the emu works before I go searching for good ones:

metal slug 2, and super dodgeball

I have not edited or replaced the standard config files, nor am I using the rage2x frontend.

I will try metal slug X as someone mentioned it works, and try the drz80 support then report back.

thanks for the replys!

If the bios files are correctly named, the gngeo will use them. There is no other check.
You should try the universal bios, it work quite well. Just rename uni-bios.rom to sp-s2.sp1, or edit the conf/gngeorc file and change the "system" variable to unibios (Don't use notepad, use programmers notepad instead).
Hope it's help.

So just find some universal bios and rename them to what you say? Im in drama rehearsal today so ill try when i get home :)

Any specific version of the uni bios?

I got the latest uni-bios of its web site, google for it...

Put it in to the roms dir, did not rename anything, then edited the config file to have --system=unibios

That was it all working you know it if is as you get a unibios load screen.

You Metal Slug dump must be bad, the one I have works fine with all bios, no issues at all

Ok I removed all the bios I had in there to begin with and got the same result as I have been getting...which means it was the bios all along.

I cant seem to find the proper working bios online. Can a kind soul pm me a link or something??

yep, got the unibios, and the file is placed in the 'roms' directory along with zipped games, and i tried using programmers notepad to edit the config but it gives me an error saying the file isnt a valid win32 application. So i tried typing system=unibios in the config with regular notepad, and still nothing. im retarded. i know :(

what now...?
