I cant mount my gp2x as a usb-storage device anymore. I can use minicom, so I know its not the connection thats messed up.
You were one of those lucky guys who had this actually working? Anyway:

The gadget storage doesn't work at all, but it's broken in the official
firmware anyway.
It's nice that network and scp come soon to our GP2X

You need to rmmod g_serial before you can use the gp2x as usb-storage.

It works as well as it does in 1.4.0, that is to say not very well at all. I've had the battery read empty with no red led on.

Used SanDisk 1G SD card.

Firmware 1.4.0

Boot time = 12 sec.

GOTTA LUV IT!!

Also, all emu's work fine for me that did in 1.2.1....namely DrMD, MAME2x, and Squidge!

Haven't left the batteries in long enough to see if the light works.....I'm just anal like that, I suppose (NO HOMO). B)

It works. BAH. DAMN BATTERY LIGHT!

I was playing tilematch on the planeride home. I was playing normal, and over 20 min of playing on that one game, i forgot to recharge the batteries from the 3 days before, and i had a score in the 2 millions :( And once it hit the game over screen, it died! CURSES!

Anyway, I love this new firmware thingy. :D

Does it matter which firmware version you use? For example, can I have 1.1.0 and the fast boot loader?

3 Minutes achieving the update (not so hard, simply reading this topic ;) )
14 seconds to boot...

What else to say ?!

Thanks oddbot for the app and NeoStuey for the step by step !

Sorry, but I really feel the implication, that others who can't get this to flash the Kernel, haven't read the topic... The point of the matter is: No it isn't hard when you have a compatible SD card.
But Yes it is annoying when everyone else can get it working and upon achieving their 12s boot time, spout some patronising comment.[/rant]

Sorry if you feel that, my post was more about me being a noob.
This topic helped me a lot to do it right.

Something I can add to my short enthusiastic comment is : some of my apps can't run anymore with this Fast Boot Firmware, so I had to come back to Fw 1.4.0 :p

//and sorry for my surely "strange" english.

Did the kernel upgrade worked?

That would be a reason.
i think so, i put the kernel on my SD and it said firmware upgrading when i turned it on? should try it again?

and i have the lcd tweaker option under settings and everything says 1.4 in settings and upon boot up
