Pulled the nubs off of my Interact Hammerhead controller.

Works very well.

Nice. Can we see some pics of your GP2X with said nub installed?

omg... it does work.
a little tall, I may have to cut some off the bottom.

I knew there was a reason I kept this around...after nobody released WinXP drivers for it...

This should keep me happy until my proper replacement arrives from DaveC

Supah-cool! :)

Seems a bit tall, as did my Retrocon cap ... maybe trim some off the bottom, alowing it to sink lower on the metal shaft. Nice job :)

the hole does actually go far enough that you can cut a bit off, I just took some diagonal cutters to mine. If the bottom of the mushroom were angled slightly it could sit even lower.

GREAT FIND.

these were quite a popular controller back in the win98/2k days

Um, that's not the screen protector, there's a thin plastic coating over it that can be taken off by taking a fingernail to the corner and pulling it off.

This mod looks the best to me so far, any idea where I can get one of these joysticks, is it an old PC joystick or what?

Sigh, I pulled off the coating that covers the screen when I first got it, what you are seeing is the extra plastic one that you have to peel the backing from andd attach to the unit, I didnt notice it was all banged up unti I put it on.

As for the joystick, check old pc wharehouses, or ebay. I just happened to have one farting around.

And that extra plastic one has TWO peelable surfaces, one obvious, one less obvious. The battery indicator/powerled bar has one, too. Might need a needle or something to get it started.

Only one on e-bay, buy-it-now £5.00...

Its 99% certain that you have not removed the top protective film from 'the extra plastic one that you have to peel the backing from'. There was a sheet actually on the lcd, a sheet on the back of the protector and another on the front - 3 in total. It is very difficult to see the front one and it looks like yours is still attached.

someone needs to take a picture of them holding the LCD with both protective layers half peeled off so people can see..

My vinyl sheet is still there. I can't see the scuffs when the thing is turned on anyway. Once it gets messed up enough that it's noticeable, THEN I'll peel it off. Like having two protectors in one.

Back on topic... interesting mod. I think I should keep on the lookout for things I can use as replacement sticks..

Yeah but it looks so foggy with it on. You would be better off removing it as it looks so much clearer.
