Finally Have My Gp2x

Got my 2X on Tueday. I really like it! My only complaint is that the Joystick is sooooooooooooo damn stiff and the diagonal issue makes some games unplayable. I hope that this thing loosens up a bit after a while.

That's about my only gripe too, the joystick (the deadzone as well as diags/stiffness etc). It's nice in every other aspect so far.

I only have problems with the joystick when moving it to the right.... and I know I'll eventually train myself in the art of moving right without hitting diagonals, so it doesn't bother me right now.

Not to mention the fact that everything is perfect :)

Got my Gp2x too, does anyone have troubles with the screen protector? I fitted it on, but it's so soft it's ridiculous. There was like a small thingy on it and while trying to scratch it off with my nail I carved a nice big very noticable line on the protector. It's full of scratches at the moment, it gets damaged at even the slightest touch of a not-soft object. As it is a protector I would've expected it to be of a harder plastic.

There's a layer of plastic over the outer screen protector, remove it with a finger nail in one of the corners and peel it off. The screen protector itself is rather hard to scratch.

I got mine. The stick took me ten seconds to get used to, but it seems to goof up when I press up on the gui menus, and pressing forward makes me do a jump-forward, or fly forward and up (Ranger X).

Battery life seems ok. at least 3-4 hours with 2500mah energizers. Only thing I'm worried about atm is the appearance of scanlines when moving the unit. Does anyone else have this problem?

(Move the unit slightly while looking at the screen)

Well then don't move it :p

Yeah that is the interlace bug. Hopefully future FW won't do it.

Mine had a big ding in it to begin with. They can be bought for a reasonable price though IIRC.

Yeah, I also hope future FW will fix it. I'm curious though how many units have this problem? From what I understand some people don't have it all. Or maybe they're just not sensitive enough to notice?

Funny how some people's answer for this problem is "don't move it" It's a PORTABLE console. I would think that moving it would be natural. It's very hard to keep it perfectly still. Especially on a moving vehicle like a buss or a train :(

The joysticks 8 way thing can be frustrating, especially when mapping your controls to drmdx. I hope reesy takes out the diagonal 8 way top right top left thing on drmd, coz when u map the controls it sometimes registeres right as top right, and the genesis/megadrive didnt have 8 way control. Just if you held up and right at the same time. i.e it didnt have a seperate direction for diagonals.

So i hope he takes out that reading.

The screen WAS a problem, until i got the lcd tweaker! GET IT! its a valuable piece of app. And i highly recommend it! Clock the cpu at 266mhz and fpll and 2. and there you go, hardly any lines at all.

There ARE lines when you move the screen about, but i recommend that you dont move yourself around to the action in the game. just keep still yeah? ;)

Im completely loving my gp2x. i get about 5 hours from my uniross 2500's and even when i overclock! THERE IS ONE BAD THING THOUGH! I put my screen thing on on christmas day, in the living room. When i put it up to my lamp later on in the day, there is a tiny hair in the screen! AAHH! Well, when the screen gets a bit scratched, i will get another, pry off the old one and stick on the new!

GREAT STUFF!
