Woah.. back up.. Open2x is ready for use? Did I miss anything ? Or is that Oddbots kernal?EvilDragon posted on Mar 26 2006 at 10:37 PM said:Firmware? Well, since FW 1.4.0 it works nice (except for movie player freeze).
Though I prefer Art's U-Boot and Open2x. Compatible, nicer looking - and the gp2x is ready to use 7 seconds after I switch it on

Its not normally bad enough to put people off buying one if you show them a GP2X first.law posted on Mar 28 2006 at 02:37 PM said:well this topic has put me off buying one, is the joystock so bad then!!! sort of key really innit <_<
Sometimes the problem isn't really the joystick. For example, has anybody tried playing the "Crazee Man" game that was recently released? I just cannot get that guy to go where I want... it "feels" as if the joystick is not responding right, but it works fine in other games.law posted on Mar 28 2006 at 08:37 AM said:well this topic has put me off buying one, is the joystock so bad then!!! sort of key really innit <_<

I don't mind the joystick too much. The shape of the cap is unfortunate and my thumb slips off sometimes, but getting a new cap or putting some stickier rubber on it seems to help with that issue.

That's not entirely true. The joystick appears to have a diagonal bias, which is no good for emulation.WrongEyedJesus posted on Mar 29 2006 at 08:59 AM said:The specifics of the joystick have been discussed at length elsewhere but essentially the stick on the 2X is fine but the cap that comes with it is very poor.
