Drmdx

Yes I'll get around to porting DrSMS at some point, it seems a pity not too.

Hi reesy, I was just wondering if you had gotten around to sleeping. I find it pretty cool and I think that you should probably try it some time too ;)

Wow... reading your last few posts makes me thrilled, Reesy. I can't wait for a new SquidgeSNES/fast SMS emulation.

... and great work with Genesis emulation... I've been playing DrMD ever since my GP2X arrived!

I think the most speed I've gained was 7 fps but that was a very basic proof of concept so I would think that in the final implementation it would drop to 6 fps.

Damn, all for naught. :(

Ahh its early days, there is lots more things to try. At the moment all I'm doing is trying to optimise the original rendering code, I'll probably try to re-design the whole rendering process in the emulator next.... but first I must fix my gp2x, no point in writing super fast emulators if I can't enjoy them. I've got my dremel at the ready, all I need is my gamecube controller to be delivered and I can start to hack away.

Worst case if the Gamecube mod doesn't work out, you can replace the stock joystick assembly pretty easy. RS electronics has the part and it is cheap. If you are interested I can find the exact PN.

Gamecube Mod is almost done now, it still need some tweaks as I need to press quite firmly in order to get Up,Down, Left to register but Right is perfect. I'm sure its just a case of repositioning the gamecube circuit board so I should be able to sort it out.

hehe sweet... that would be an awesome mod on the one hand and a chance for us to eventually enjoy another release of a reesy optimised drmdx soon.

Congrats on fixing your gp2x btw.

Thanks xnopasaranx, Gamecube mod is now complete and is working perfectly, I suppose I can do some coding now.

Holy bejesus! That mod looks incredibly awesome. Congrats on the mod! How does it play and feel on your thumb?

As grampf said before, it feels exactly like a GBA, it gives fast and accurate responses. I'm very happy now :) no need for a GPXmini any more.

I was going to post some but a can't get a decent photo of my gp2x.

EDIT Okay managed to get a capture from my video camera instead

That looks great. Did you use Radek's logic chip or are you just not reading the diagonal input? If you are not reading the diagonals does it work with everything?

You are quite a good hardware hacker too.

I'm not reading diagnal input, I just used the circuit board from the gamecube pad. I have no idea if it works with everything, I would guess it does not but it works on all of my emulators so I'm okay.

Can't there be a software that converts the diagonals to the "GP2X" diagonals? I'm pretty sure someone can make a program running in the backround to do this quite easily...
