I wouldn't be surprised if less than one percent of gamers out there emulate, so they might be happy to play games from yesteryear on a console.

To me and many others it's a great feature IF the price is not too high! I would pay up to a tenner for a great Snes game, maybe a little more for a N64 game.  I think! I mean, Zelda ocarina of time, for £15? Not bad!

There seems to me to be a point here. When I was a kid, I had an enormous collection of spectrum games, mostly copied from someone's copy. I had no income of my own to be able to buy the originals. If I couldn't copy them, I couldn't play them, full stop!

Now, some of us here have jobs and some of us don't. Whilst not condoning piracy, I can understand how people wanna play games that they can't afford. So i feel almost duty bound to buy games and consoles to support the gaming industry. And feel myself less of a fanboy, cos I can afford to buy all 3 consoles (as long as my wife doesn't find out-so stumm on how much my PSP cost!!!!). Guys like Sam want the Xbox to be a success because he is 12 or 13, he wants to play all his favourite xbox games ree. emade for the 360, and hopes that he will be backing the winning horse. This is the only reason for such loyalty to one console.

Incidently, the Gamecube didn't fail at all! Just not sold as many as the others. But it still made some of the best games of recent times. So there will be SO many people who will buy the new Ninty anyway. Throw in a few features to attract parents ("Download Great games for peanuts!"), and I think Ninty has got it's marbles back!

No, Spam fisher's 15.
I'm the one who's 12, and I want a revolution and ps3
lol i am getting all three. I seem to have limitless money! anyhow goity is as immature as me. also i am not immature. Just i know cpu's and 2 tflops one on cpu is impossible! except in the future.

Sam, much as I enjoy your posts, that was a bit of a dumb thing to say!

Nobody has, to may knowledge, released a new console yesterday. These three beasts WILL be coming out in the future.

Or have I missed/going to miss something!

:p

7! still a 1.9 tflop super comp has 1153 cores....................
So by your reckoning a 1.9 tflop needs 1153 cores but an Xbox can do 1 teraflop with 3 cores?

One thing to be sure about in this next console race: The Xbox is gonna be one tera FLOP

well that would sorta defeat the purpose of home consoles.

Not really, Kickinwing. there's still a market for newer consoles and newer games. I'm not saying I have a big problem sitting in front of a TV or even being stationary at all... what I have a problem with though is when people release "innovations" that aren't innovations... or maybe they are, but they don't actually solve any kind of problem or anything. I can see the cords being a problem in some situations. because of the way our livingroom is set up right now, I NEED an extension cord to play my PS2 while sitting on the couch... and yes, a wireless controller would have kept me from buying that extra cord... but the thing is, I love my RetroCon, and I wanna use it pretty much all the time... Also, I wanted portable emulation, not because I don't want to sit still, but because a lot of times, I'd be stuck somewhere, on a crappy vacation, at the mall, in the car, waiting for my parents to come back out to the car and take us all home... wherever, whatever the situation... I wished I could play Megaman or Super Mario 3, Chrono Trigger, Mortal Kombat, whatever... and I couldn't. Now I finally can thanks to the GP32. I don't have to worry about ports turning out crappier than the original game because I'm actually playing the original game now. and I can actually see the damn screen and tell what's going on(gameboy... the old one... doesn't let me do that). That's what I'm getting at. I'm not gonna buy Nintendo Revolution to play old games on a TV when I can already do that becuase I still have my old consoles, AND I can do it whenever and whereever I want with my GP32. What they're doing is a good idea. It's good that they're bringing back the old games that we enjoyed growing up and younger kids don't know because they were just too young... but I have no use for it at all.

and to tell you the truth, watching their press conference pissed me the hell off. Pretty much all they did was talk shit on sony. They said numbers aren't important, but then the first thing they do after that is start rattling off numbers(wtf, hypocrites...). Besides that, 2 billion game sales in 20 years is probably pretty good... but Sony sold the same amount in TEN years. so what the hell are they getting at or trying to prove? And it would be nice if they would at least show us the controller or some game footage for NEW games for their new console... they showed us the case and told us it would be even smaller, and that was the end of it. Unless you're someone who hasn't played the old games in years and you still have no way of doing it, how can you possibly be excited about something they've told us next to nothing about? I MIGHT be impressed if they actually give us some damn info(but don't count on it).

Magus, why are you always so negative before the full facts? You really sound like you hate gaming, well modern gaming....

WTF are you talking about? I said nothing that wasn't based on facts they've already given us... I was responding to everybody getting so excited because they can play their old games again... I have a PS2, yet I hate modern gaming... are you fricken retarded? I'm not being "negative." I'm being REALISTIC. Wireless controllers have nothing to do with modern gaming. They've been around for a long time. And the same goes for NES, SNES, and N64 games. I fail to see how something that's 20, 15, or 10 years old is "modern."

Its not, the System itself is modern the OPTION to play the old games isn't. Nintendo is not putting a gun to your head and telling you to play their old games. If you don't want to don't, just buy the Revolution for the next gen games.

They charged $20.00 for NES ports on the GBA... what makes you think they'll only charge £15 for Ocarina of Time or £10 for an SNES game?

No, not quite. I don't really care if the Playstation 3 is the "winning horse." or not. I only hope that Sony continues to be successful IF they continue to have the 3rd party support of the companies that make the games I like. I have loyalty to Sony because they haven't been doing lots of stupid stuff for the past 10 years. I'm so sick of Mario. I've ALWAYS hated Pokemon. I'm sick of Samus and every other Nintendo character. It's not a matter of maturity or lack of maturity in the games. That's not it at all. I still play Bubble Bobble, and how mature of a game is that? I'm just sick of Nintendo's characters, and I haven't been intrigued by any of their games in ages. I have no problem with Microsoft. I just don't have their system because most of their games are the EXACT same thing as another game on another system. I don't understand all the hype surrounding Halo. There are lots of other shooters out there that are much deeper and much more fun. Halo is like TimeSplitters with much less variety, and scifi sucks anyway. And I know it's been said many more times than is needed, but I hate the controller. It's just not comfortable for me.

Well, Kickinwing, as of right now, we know nothing about what the games will be like... if history is any indication, I know I won't like the games... which means that I have absolutely no reason to buy the system. The graphics of the PS3 are VERY impressive... but graphics don't make the game. No matter which system I end up buying, I know it won't be for a while. Every system I've ever bought, I've done so long after it was first released. This time around will be the same. I'm gonna sit back, wait, and watch. If I don't like what I see, I might end up not buying any system at all this time. But so far, I'm leaning toward the PS3 because Sony has always pleased me in the past.

Hey, less of the insults!!!!

You are probably the most aggresive poster on these boards, back down a little and think about what you post. You are always 'pissed the hell off' or slagging something that Ninty or Sony are doing.

And how are we to know that you have a PS2? I don't subscribe to the webcam of your house. I don't make notes on everything you say! The world doesn't revolve around your posterior (how do you spell that?) BUM!!!!

If there is a feature on a console that you don't like, then fine. Talk about it. But all this aggression over some wireless controller or downloadable games feature or whatever. Again, it's been said before on these boards, they make games for everyone, not just you!

I come here to read the sensible witty comments of these guys. They've given me loads of help, and so on. Lively debate is great, and I like a bit of swearing too (BUMBUMBUM :p ). But every post you seem to make is either ill informed ("Star Wars are all crap. I saw the first 10 minutes of one of them etc.") or super excited and aggresive.

You seem to have a real knowledge and love of games. And I like your passion (like my favourite poster Bast.... Hmmmmm Baaasssttt..). So ignore my words and go on gesticulating!!!

Anyway, have you seen the new Zelda???? Isn't it lovely!!! And I've just been watching Killzone over and over again! Yeah, it's probably too good to be true. The developers said it was 'how' the game will look.... But even so the directing and voice acting still makes it marvellous.

We can dream.....

Well yeah, that's true. you DON'T know that I have a PS2. Technically, you don't really know anything. For all I know, you could actually be some middle aged mom who hates games because they "corrupt our youth." but I specifically said that I have a PS2. what reason would I have to lie? I never said all star wars movies were crap. I just said I didn't like them. I've never been into scifi or the whole outer space thing, especially when they try to make it serious. Yes I have seen the new Zelda, and it LOOKS really good, but what's with Link turning into a wolf?

They would charge less because it would invovle no packaging, box or cartrigde. and no porting what so ever. Unline the Nes Ports they had to change the screen sizes and tweak somethings to work with a gba.

I don't see how nintendo are losing.
It's their first Home console that actually interests me.
And at $100? Bought!

Oh, shit... good point, Apeiron. I haven't even thought of that at all...

The Revolution might intererest me if there were more N64 games that I like(the only one being Ocarina of Time). I've only ever played a handful of N64 games, and I didn't like most of them. I'm sure there are more out there that I would like, but I'm not going to buy the Revolution on the CHANCE that I'll like more of them. I already know I like the NES and SNES, but that doesn't matter because I have 3 other ways to play both of them... actual console, PC emulators, and GP32 emulators. I'm not "bashing" The Revolution. The fact that they're gonna let you play all of their old games again on one console is pretty cool and a good idea, but I'm not gonna get excited over it because I can already play the old games. I still have my old consoles, and I have emulation for the games I missed the first time around. So I don't really have any use for the Revolution... and it would be nice if they gave us some friggin' information about the system other than the fact that it'll play old games.

Well, good, Goity. I hope you enjoy it. You're one of the few young kids who isn't obsessed with only new stuff. There are A LOT of good NES and SNES games.

But yep, Goity. The Snes largely passed me by. I am really excited now about the Rev cos of this very feature! I would love to be able to play all these Snes classics ON A CONSOLE!!! And a small little cheap machine nestling next to my PS3 or Xbox...nice!

And imagine having Goldeneye or Mario Cart or Mario Party (whichever one you prefer) on the system always, with several joysticks you don't even have to plug in... it's party time (if I had any friends!)

Nope, I am really excited by the Rev. If it is as we think it is, it might encourage people to have two consoles. And if this is Ninty's plan then again-smart move!

The reason I only own one console this generation is bacause THEY'RE ALL THE SAME. The PS2 can create as good graphics as any of the othersif you know how to program it, so no real winner there, mostly the games are the same...
There's no actual reason to get more than one console.
Whereas the Revolution sounds completely different to Xpox 360 or PS3,.

We all know it's my fault that you missed the part where I said that I had a PS2, right? Well shit, I'm so sorry. I'll make sure to put it in size 72 bold red text so you don't miss it next time, okay? And if that remark was directed at the fact that I explained why I don't like Star Wars, excuse me for explaining things about myself for people so they understand where I'm coming from better and more easily...
