Reesy really is trying to please all of the people all of the time!

And succeeding too!

Well not really. I do it for selfish reasons. I like playing genesis games on my GP32. If I see an idea that makes that experience more enjoyable, then I'll use it. Everybody else just gets to share what I've created for my own needs :) ( and beta testers get to share it a little quicker )

It depends where I am. If I'm in a loud, crowded canteen I'd either disable the sound or turn the volume down to zero. When alone or in a quiet place however, I do like playing with sound and have it on where it's available. I don't agree with the complaints that SNES is worthless without sound or whatever though.

I voted no although I'm really inbetween options 2 and 3. When I'm playing games with in a quiet I like to have the music turned up, but in most cases I find myself listen to my walkman while playing handhelds.

DEFINATELY need sound for me. While I can enjoy some games w/o music, no sound at all makes it almost impossible for me to enjoy, except for a few games.

I'm surprised you guys can play SNES w/o sound at all... the sound on many SNES games was of almost CD music quality, and much of the music was fantastic... to try to play w/o it is almost a crime IMO. Even with homebrews though if there isn't some kind of sound I pass on them completely.

It really doesn't matter to me..
sure I'd rathe there BE sound, but half the time I play while listening to my stereo anyway

It Depends, if i have my cd player with me. I'll just rock out to some music from that and not care if the emulator doesnt have sound. however if i dont have my cd player i usually wont play without sound. Unless im somewhere loud where i wouldnt be able to hear if sound worked anyway.
Id say that its fairly important to me, but sometimes i can live without it.

:)

I know what you mean. The music in SNES was so much a part of it, that sometimes it even made a mediocre game good. I just couldn't play stuff like CastleVania IV with no sound...BAH!

So I don't ever use the SNES emu. The sad thing is that the newest (and last?) version got the ASM cores for everything EXCEPT the sound, how is that for bitter irony.

I Dont know, it was pretty damn sweet when i was playing Chrono Trigger while listening to the Chrono Trigger soundtrack. Almost like having the sound... :)

Though it will probably sound quite radical, no sound = no use for me. I can accept missing SFX, but as long as there is no music, I don't play it.

Try playing Castlevania : Bloodlines in DrMD with headphones, its great! If it was not for the bug in the 4th level that disallows any further progress, it would be the best Genesis game I have played so far.

I thought having no sound in a game wasn't a big deal, but when I think about which emus I've used the most lately, OpenSNES9x has definately been left behind and that's odd because I'm a big Nintendo fan.
Some tunes might be overly chirpy and annoying but that's part of the whole gaming experience. Playing without sound just doesn't feel the same.

What happens in the fourth level? Is it a cyclone bug? I haven't played it that much yet to know.

same here,i love snes but i haven't touched it in ages because of the sound issue.i love rpg sountracks, and i have several of them on my ipod.while on soundtrack topid,i'd like to suggest this awesome website www.ocremix.org they have remixes of game music sent by people and most of them are really good

voted for option 3. i hate it when a nearly perfect emulator is released and 90% of the people whine about it being slow with sound on.

DaveC: I guess at a bug in Cyclone. Have to admit I am not sure if its level 4, I didnt count the passed levels, but the problem occurs at the next boss after the flying demon on the top of the tower. A large gray circle appears and I presume there should be the boss somewhere, but actually there is nothing and touching the circle means instant death. Nothing is moving on the screen apart from your character, nothing can be hit and you cannot leave the screen.
Hopefully this will be solved when Reesy manages to kill some more bugs :)
