Guys what ever happend to that hot news story about 2 weeks ago about a possible ps1 emulator? Is it even possible, because if its not possible to emulate GayboyAdvanced then how can it be possible to emulate Ps1? Someone please explain.

<cough> Fuck off <Cough>.

That wasnt a very smart thing to say. If you dont have anything to say then just please dont post. This isnt meant to be flamed I just wanted to hear what people think or have to say.

Though i dont think you deserve it, ill give you a proper answer...

Its possible to emulate gba. Not at playable speeds, but slowly yeah its fairly possible. The same goes for the ps1 emu, its possible. Just itd prolly only run 1-3 fps. It'd still be emulated, just not very well. :)

sigh, we have a handy search function here and while it won't accept 3 letter words or under such as ps1 or gba, it will accept playstation and gameboy advance.

I noticed you have a grand total of 3 posts here... might be a good idea to go through the archives and get your feet on the ground before you begin building a rep by opening your mouth. You could have easily found out that the play station em only grinds out 1-3 frames a second on ridge racer and that game boy advanced em is held back by the difference in cpu cores... much the same as snes emulation is, except snes was for the most part only 16 bit em so you don't notice the difference quite as much... gba is a true 32 bit game system so the missing cpu core access really shows and make most comercial games unplayable.

figured I'd be nicer than a fuck off since I'm barely out of my newbie shoes myself.

GP32 has an amazing "community", asking a question that is considered "newbie" is like being a Rangers supporter in a Celtic pub.

Basically full speed PSX emu is out of the question,

I havnt bothered reading up on the GBA emu, apparently someone was trying to do some trickery so the CPU would not have to be emulated and so maybe we could see something approaching decent emulation, but alas nope :(

Cant we all just be friends on the boards  hehe

In six months the boards will be almost dead as most people will have moved to a different system anyways

"In six months the boards will be almost dead as most people will have moved to a different system anyways laugh.gif"

not I..
It took me almost a year just to finally get one of these gp32_console

well, the GBA could be very nicely emulated, after a lot of work
It runs game decent now, and could proboly tripple the speed once we get out of 66mhz and into 133, 166, 200+ we might get some nice emulation
however, the only people that know how to work with the new emu are its native coders, so its not like its capable of being picked up by someone else if its not being worked on at any one time
however, like said before, the GBA has many differant chips for peocessing differant things, the gp32 just has raw CPU power
long story short, GBA can be emu'd at a real nice speed, proly no sound, but requires lots of complicated coding

o ya, welcome to the scene, don't worry if people yell at ya, they do that sometimes, we all do, were a interesting bunch

Trooper, that was uncalled for, he was asking a question, there are tons and tons of posts that people don't use the search and they still get their answers a little less rude. And a viable question, how could you figure out it was a troll post. I expect more from a guru.

Forget it... a playable psx emu can't be done. Even if the code was optimized to maximum and everything written in assembly, still, it wouldn't work... We're talking of a 33,8 MHz processor emulation and, on top of that... a graphic chip!!!! Just look at Snes emulation, it's playable at frameskip 2 with no sound. I don't know but I think the Snes cpu is something like 2.5 MHz. 2.5 MHz and 33.8 MHz... sorry to break your dream. On top of this, the DS and PSP are coming out soon, people who want to develop a psx emu for an handheld will choose a more powerful device than the GP32 (not to say that GP32 is not powerful!!!!!!!! It's just not the right handheld to emulate 3D capable systems...). As for GBA... I have hope that someday... we might be able to play some 1st gen games without sounds... But I would not hold my breath! Anyway, it's still amazing to see this emu, makes me proud to be a GP32 owner!!!!!

now all write "i will not attack other guys apart from that who deserver it"
trooper is completly right (he even gave a link, wih means he searched for that idiot), theres no execution for lazynes, he could have his answer in a much shorter time when he would have used the search funktion.

n six months the boards will be almost dead as most people will have moved to a different system anyways
no, only the redundant peaople will move, maybe the board will get back to its quality that we had 1 1/2 year ago without the kids.

I think the reason the community gets pissed off is because most people can't be arsed to go find the infomation themselves.

I was amazed at the PS1 thread that built up a few weeks ago. Most people obviously didn't bother reading the linked forum thread (see troopers link to it earlier in this thread) that explained the speed of the emulation which was 1 FPS or less under emulation which probably equates to 2 or 3 FPS on real hardware at 166. There was also the comment from the coder that getting the screentshots took most of the afternoon etc. I'm not saying playable PS1 emulation will never happen on the GP32 but it's a hell of a longshot unless some kind of super modded GP comes along.

As a coding exercise though the fact it runs at all is excellent and bodes well for the future of the next generation GP.

Well, I figure your 3D Racers and the likes are a *bit* to consuming, but I'd imagine games like... eh, Suikoden and... um, Suikoden II might work with playable speed with completed emulator. Can't say anything about the size of said games, tho.

Perhaps everyone thinks i was OTT, Personally i don`t think so. Reading his/her post and the way it was worded, Pretty much indicated a troll`s post and not one of curiosity. The guy/girl made that question their first post 2nd in reply to me and a 3rd on another thread slagging someone of for asking if the original BLU firmware was available as a option in another firmware (eg, Aquafish`s firmware). Well, The guy/girl has not posted since, Whether they were a troll or i had infact scared them away  , We will probably never know.

But i still stand by my response as i think i am correct in saying that WAS a troll.

then you need to change your sig or something to "magical troll revealer" since you have the magical powers of knowing who is a troll and who isn't by reading 1 or 2 posts.
