Are RMA repairs still available?

My screen and LCD cable are both damaged. There's columns of damaged pixels, and the colors freak out depending on the angle of the screen. It's made it impossible for drawing on, and there's no other device this small that's also as good for drawing on, at least not until the Pyra comes out.

@EvilDragon Is there a possibility of crowd-funding an order of LCD cables? My Pandora suffers from the same issue. Having a couple backup cables would give my Pandora a few extra years of useful life.

Should be possible. My guess is that we need to crowdfund at least around 25k EUR though.

Yeah that isn’t cheap, unfortunately!! I wonder if we can find 250 interested people to bring the cost below $100 each.

I'd be interested but not for 100$
Also I think the cable would need a re-design like I mentioned a couple months ago in another thread. Something with all the electronics and a flat cable connector on one part and a separate flat-cable that goes through the hinge.

Found it...

I have checked with one PCB manufacturer I know. Small quantity production of 25 units would be ca. 700€ according to their online-page. I.e. 30€ per piece and delivery after ca. 30 days.
There are also some components to solder which is what my Lab could do in such small quantities. Speakers can likely be swapped with the broken cable.
Well, this is just a first guess without knowing Gerber data and exact dimensions and other requirements.
If someone can provide me with Gerber data I can try to make a better estimate. And it would help to know how many such cables are needed.

I don't have an issue with my lcd cable but would help crowdfund a new production run.

My Pandora's lcd cable also broke. For the second time already. That was one of the unbreakable new cables. I used it every day and it's pretty worn out, completely battered case and one shoulder button and the audio jack or volume wheel are broken. I would love to have a new lcd cable, as that's the only thing that's keeping me from repairing it.

I made a poll to see if there's enough interest...

I voted wanting to have a spare, but that said I have all three of my Pandori to deal with.

@hns In the poll thread already sufficient people have opted in for a new or spare LCD cable. Maybe even enough for more than 25 pieces.
I found the Gerber files and info here http://www.openpandora.org/downloads/files/Pandora_LCD_Cable.zip
Hoping you have time to start the production process now. I guess @EvilDragon could just sell them for you in his shop?
Great. Thanks for the link! Selling and shipping is not the problem since I would have my own online shop. But the license seems not to permit this.
I'll study the Gerber data. On a first look, details about material and stiffner placement may be missing - or included.

The license seems to omit to say exactly what to do if you want to sell something based on these specs. It says you're free to use them for non-commercial work, but doesn't say what if you actually want money for them. It then says later to contact ED if you want to use them, but doesn't say you need to get permission or anything, so by that definition a simple @EvilDragon may be enough. In any case, being less pedantic about the wording, he'd be the person to put the kibosh on this if he wanted to at this stage.
