From Greece with love.

Sorry for not postng the longer update - but after a good meal and a few drinks, I just went into my bed and immediately fell asleep.

We're here at FA now to pack up the moulds and I'll try to make some pictures as well.

I wonder how big these Moulds are, i can remember a "Praktikum" at a Plastik Moulding Company near the Airport Saarbrücken, and theyre Moulds werend that Big, they made some Plastik Parts for Cars and such Cases for Elektrical Installation , but these Plastik Parts wasnt that complex as the Pyra Case..
Have some Nice Days in Greece EvilDragon, my farest journy was Munich and the North of the Netherlands..

They are made out of steel.
They don't need to be too big to be heavy.

Good enough for prototypes and modding :)

Are these cases complete or are there still case components missing (lid emblem insert, etc...)?

Is there any chance of the prototypes coming with a 2nd set of case plastics & one of the 'junk' keymat prototypes for said modding exercises?

Of course, I can also throw in some of the older colored cases to every pre-preorder in case he / she wants some :)
[doublepost=1547685791,1547685042][/doublepost]Okay, it's time to go to bed already, but I still wanted to post the update :)

As mentioned, the discussion worked out a lot better than I thought.
There was no fight or struggle, no one of us got angry, we had a (long) but good talk.

They had to admit it didn't work out as planned and they made some mistakes, most probably because there were time when the case design wasn't worked on for a few months and some things simply have been forgotten during that time.
I know the Pyra certainly is no easy thing to design and develop, but we need to move forward and fix the final few issues, and this is a lot faster and easier if I have a company with enough capacity to quickly work on these things and I can check them myself and help finishing it.

So clearly, there were no "winners" in this, it was clear that this is the best way to move forward.

The moulds will be picked up in around 9 hours (together with 95 full transparent sets) and then I'll check and discuss with the new company what needs to be fixed and how we can do that.
They also are eager to improve the design, so we might get an updated version after the first production run (as these improvements will need new moulds :))

So first step: Fix these cases and make them suitable for mass production.
Second step: Find a proper material and color.
Third step: Produce enough cases for the first production run.

Once we're selling the Pyra, improvements can be worked on. As it's easy to change the case, everyone can upgrade later one as well :)

As some asked how big the moulds are... well, not big, but heavy.
Here's a picture of them:

If the Improvement is only on the Bottonpart, then i would say i can try to change this part myself, as i opend my Pandora lots of times to fix the Shoulderbuttons, and i also modded my Pandora by putting the Black Case Bottonpart on the Platin Case, so i had a Pandora whit Black and Platin Parts ^^, but as the Black Parts are became to get some smal cracks, i now have my Pandora completly in "Platin"..
I dotnt want to change the whole Pyra Case myself, as i dotnt want to make something wrong whit the Display Cable and the Hinge, but if the new and the old parts are compatible, i would buy a new case set...
But i dotnt know how the "Current" Case Sets performs, so if im happy whit this, maybe there isnt much need to change..

On my Pandora Side of my Pants, there is also just my Kindle Ebookreader, a little Notebook (out of paper), a Pen, the Sleev whit the Car Papers, and a Pack of Nose Towels,
and the Pandora of course, so the Pyra should fit easely..

Great update !!

Ooh heavy metal.... I hope the new case company kick ass and knock cases out rapidly.

On my Pandora, i cant controll the Display Brighning Level anymore, : The Keyboard Keys for this ditnt make anything diverent, and the same whit the Brighnes Controlls in the Taskbar, and when i close the Pandora, or Aktivate the Lowpowermode (standbye) the Display is off, but the Backlight of the Display stays on..
The only way to deaktivate the Display Backlight is to shut down the OS, : if the Pandora is completly off, then also the Display Backlight is off..
its also a bit divicult to tell this issue in english..
I can remember i am the Only one whit this issue, so mybe whe have luck and this Chip runs on the Pyra correctly..
If the Chip realy makes the Pyra brighter, than this is a good thing..

I seem to remember that you can see that behavior when your display cable gets damaged. Since some of the traces that control the backlight are carried over the display cable. So it might not be the chip itself.
