Hi EvilDragon,

I preordered a Pyra for 1 BTC when they were worth roughly 400 euro. Now they are worth ten times that much.

Is there any chance of a bonus for people who paid with bitcoin? Maybe an extra Pyra? You'll still have made a fortune.

Unfortunately, back then, we used BitPay which made an immediate conversion and paid out the EUR price to us, so we didn't make a single cent profit from that.
It's only a few month since we switched to our own wallet.

I had a friend who didn't believe me when I told him to invest in bitcoin years ago. So I did it for him and bought him one physical bitcoin (leilana) back when a bitcoin was worth around $50.

Now that physical bitcoin is worth $8000 and he's made a further $80,000 via investing over the last couple of years.

It's awesome to see and I am happy for him. At the same time I'm very jealous and wish I'd had the money to invest like that myself, but I haven't even made $100 because I can't hang onto money long enough without needing to spend it.

Blah.

$8000 .... damn. Now I really regret not pouring a ton into bitcoins when they just started.

Yeah, that's true too. I made the right decision given the information I had at the time.

Plenty of investment choices I've missed over the years. There's bitcoin, as mentioned, but I also was aware of ARM when it listed on the FTSE. But there's probably as many other things I've heard of that have turned out to be absolute turds and I've now forgotten them, so avoiding all of them has probably been to my benefit.

I mined one bitcoin back in 2012 when it was only $10. It took me 4 months, I deemed the experiment a failure, and donated it to DosBox.
When it crossed $500 I said "meh, you win some, you lose some". When it crossed $2000 I had pangs of regret. When it crossed $5000 is when I finally asked myself why I hadn't just held onto it, what harm could it possibly have done to just keep a number backed up?

I bought 13 BTC in 2013 and spent them on mining hardware, earning back about 3 BTC (because I didn't understand the difficulty mechanism, and that you make less when more people mine). I then sold those 3 BTC for about AU$850 each. Today Bitcoin is trading for about AU$10,000 each.

I wish I'd held onto just 1 of them. . .

I just love the logic of the original post. Could you imagine going back through any of your old orders anywhere looking for where the exchange changed (which will practically be all of them that aren't in your native currency) and asking for refunds for the difference. Everyone would think you were crazy.

That's not crazy.
I got lots of stuff for free because of that :p

That's the issue with Bitcoin. It's a bubble waiting to burst. Kinda like the current collection market (cars, video games etc - is the only known sealed copy of Goldeneye 007 really worth ten grand ?). Those who want to sell can make profit of it while it lasts. Those who want to buy instead, well... they've got nothing to do but cry.
