Looking through the excellent haul at gbax this year i noticed something. This community is a bit scared about zodiac stealing our best coders (yoyo and ryleh etc). However if you look at the console the entries are coded for only 2 out of 50 are for the zodiac. (includes zot! which is for both) Surely thats got to ease fears slightly.

Walks off with gp32 now thoroughly addictede to video poker on GP32 card casino.

Well, I think Zodiac/Palm coders are busy releasing commercial games...

True but thats what the zodiacs community is like. Everyone is in it to make a profit. There isn' any homebrew stuff. dr.no that is another point entirely, thats why it says 'etc'. Besides look at the gbax list and only a bowling game is aa Zodiac xclusive. We have 21 games, emulators and programs. That is huge compared to zodiac's 2.

viva la GP32

Lay off the Zodiac dissing...

In point of fact, theres more homebrew for Palm OS/Zodiac than any other handheld ever, period. Zodiac specific is small, since the unit is what 6mo old?

Geesh people, GP32 and Zodiac should be proud of each other for being the two little guys in a tough pond.

I'm *really* sick of the two small brothers kicking themselves whenever they can. I dev for both, but its turning me off to see all this all the time :/

I don't see it as a diss.

I see it as a valid point.

We shouldn't be worried about people leaving us for the Zodiac, or getting paranoid about the community after the GP32 turnout in the competition.

Totally true; the GP32 scene is not quite as alive as it was a year or more ago, but its still very mcuah alive, and right now I think theres a revival of new coders coming in, so maybe its bigger than ever..

Huge yes, but it depends on what you are looking for... Complete and cheap games or good free homebrew games (most of time, demos)... As far I'm concerned I'm more in the first category (but no Zodiac yet).

I second that ! *If* the GP32 is released in Europe, we'll see a another GP32 boost in the community. :)

I suggest some of you go back to when GP32 was 6 months old and see how much stuff or emus etc. there was for it.

You do realize Zodiacs aren't even retail yet, aren't sold worldwide yet, and coders are just getting started learning it. But from what we've seen so far, it's capable of some amazing things. I won't even make an comparative remarks, just leave it at that, but from what I've seen of LJZ as an example I'm not feeling particularly worried.

GP32 has had a several years to get where it is with all the nice emus and homebrew, wait and take a look at GBAX 2005 and GBAX 2006 before you start bashing the Zodiac for not having as many submissions this year. It's just getting started.

This thread isn't really fair to the Zodiac as it is new. While I have had some things that I disagree with Prophet on, he is right here. The Zodiac hasn't been out long enough to get the kind of mature stuff that the GP32 or GBA has. Give it time and we will see next compo. I still prefer the GP32 at the moment but the Zodiac will have some good stuff too in the future. Instead of bashing the Zodiac IMHO I think we should focus on all of the cool stuff that was released. I for one am looking forward to Squidges Lynx emu for the GP32 that wasn't even entered into GBAX.

Those who bought the zodiac are obviously those who go for the next big thing. I am sure the next big thing will arise before the end of this year and the zodiac will die off before it hardly even started.

I agree there's too much anti-z feelings going on, I'm sure there's plenty of nice people in each community so can't we all get on? Last thing you want to do is make the gp32 scene come across petty and lose people for it.. it's still a quality handheld, just like the gp32! and you know it

this topic isn't a zodiac diss it is a gp32 reassurance. Many people have specualted that our quality coders are leaving the scene for the zodiac scene. This topic was a slight reassurance that if this were the case than more than 1 zodiac exclusive would be released at gbax 2004.

I am not saying that this won't change in the future and that we will never lose coders but i am saying the immediate future looks bright.

But its not like the Zodiac is revolutionary, thats like saying that since my pc has a better mouse than yours it is a much better platform and that playing FPSes on yours is like eating my own shit compared to mine.
