I thought sth like that. Thanks for all your answers. @ptitSeb: Yeah, I thought about that. Besides compile time and memory/storage restrictions, it's also like I mentioned: I usually don't carry my Pandora to work everyday (I know, a crime in itself), so it isn't handy most of the time when I find time to code sth extracurricular. But that would be the goto option. Or I start to really get into the intrinsics of cross-compiling... the script you mention should help to cut some Pandora-specific corners...
The script is there: http://ptitseb.openpandora.org/crosscompilemaker.sh It will build libc and all at the same version then the pandora, but with gcc 4.9 and quite modern binutils. After that, you can build more current gcc (like 7.3), but for the 1st build (to build libc and friend), I think only gcc 4.x works...
