This handheld runs on Linux, and we all know that means it can do everything but clean the crumbs from under your keyboard. The GP2X player has a dual core ARM processor, 64mb NAND Flash RAM, SD memory card slot, a 3.5” TFT screen. It plays photos, movies, music and games, you could even read an eBook because you are probably smart like that if you own this gadgy. Utilities and emulators? Don’t bore me with your silly questions. Think Quake, Doom, SNES, Megadrive, MAME, and media players galore. You can even connect the GP2X to a TV. For a more than reasonable $190, you’ll get the player, USB Cable, manual and 1-year warranty. Oh, also, it runs on two AA batteries. What does PSP stand for now, huh? Pretty Sucky Peripheral? Poor Sony Poo-poo?
yea! heres the link gizmodo link that gagetman in the comments is a total dick tho, saying
Don't even try to sell me one of these! I may buy the Gizmondo but this system purely sucks!!!

And obviously has not idea what he's talking about, especially if he's been reading Gizmodo. I almost posted on this, but was in no rush - rather glad someone beat me to it.

This guy says it sucks because it doesn't have a rechargeable battery. What a fuckin' dumbass, never heard of AA NiMH batteries? Clueless ;)

he mostly says it sucks because it's not a PSP, but it's not really the same price, and homebrew on PSP is quite a different concept :D

i kinda feel like i wanna pity him :p

The AA battery thing does not work for me as I believe in rechargeable batteries.

Whats with all the people thinking "AA batteries" equals "non rechargeable batteries" anyway??

EDIT:i'm slow...

'cause they are stupid. The only difference is that AA rechargeables can be bought anywhere unlike those custom ones.

Gizmodo is a technology/gadget "blog". Those things are the scum of the internet, but they get news quickly.

<strikethrough>Also, I believe the article's text was stolen from gp2x.co.uk.</strikethrough> Forget that.

The wisdom of Gadgetman...

"The PSP holds it's charge quite well as I have seen an entire movie then played some music before it even hiccuped!"

Wow, an ENTIRE movie? So you got 2 hours before it started dying? That's incredible! Just what you want in a handheld

I've run into a couple of these people in the fourms I've brought the gospel to, and while I tell them to research the facts, they keep saying things like "we have emulators and movies and stuff on here"

One of them said "The Nintendo DS has N64 capabilities" Pretty sure I've never heard that before.

It has. I can run well made ports of N64 games. But so could GP32, I should think. :)

you are not serious right? Because it would be impossilble, end of story. The gp32 does not have a 3d accelerator.

The GP32 is more powerful then the nintendo DS, think about that.

An N64 emulator might not be possible but N64 graphics really should not be a problem.

i would say "playstation graphics" better, the n64 having hardware filterings ;)

mabe something like DS rendering at best :)

If someone were to make a port of Mario64, it could run well on GP32. It might not have the snazzy filters and shit, but whatever the game would have looked like, had it not had hw-filters, GP32 could pull off. In my opinion, and none of you can actually prove me wrong... :p
