I like the NDSL - clear, smooth outer casing (perspex?) with coloured matt inner casing.

I'm a big fan of the rougher finish. Not rough like sandpaper, but like the Cowon example you showed.... this gives it a 'real' feel and some grip, not like the cheap plastic gp2x is made from, which feels like a bootleg toy and is a fingerprint magnet..... fingerprints are invisible on a textured finish and it has the most professional appearance.

I've choose glossy because with the time and use the plastic where our fingers push become glossy!
Ok you see more the dirty but it's easier to clean and in the time it's more stable.

Example around all my GP2X buttons the plastic become glossy :p and it's the same thing with my intellimouse from microsoft and some touch of my keyboard.

EDIT: I would like to have a glossy carbon imitation plastic :D

Same thing happened to mine but instead of looking glossy, it just looks really greasy :( Very ugly.

Edited because I was kind of going off topic

Glossy gets smeary + scratched
Rough plastic gets glossy
Matt finish looks less than professional.

That settles it, Craig, go for Aluminum!
