What have you bought recently?

Those Casio's aren't cheap either.

It wasn't, but it works out cheaper than having to buy a new smartwatch every x number of years.

as the battery holds out for months.

Casio website said:
Run time

Approx. battery operating time:
6 months on rechargeable battery (operation period with normal use without exposure to light after charge)
22 months on rechargeable battery (operation period when stored in total darkness with the power save function on after full charge)

Also the battery only needs replacing approx every 15 years.

I've managed to track down a replacement strap (I got it off've Amazon instead due to it being the same price but with free delivery) for when I get bored of the one that it came with. Casio didn't make it easy though by giving the watch a lug width of 23mm.

Strange, my Garmin still holds up quite good, Batterie Runtime after 1 Year still about 28 Days whit one Charge, only issue is that some times the Sleep Monitor Mode want come back to normal Watch Mode.. , maybe its because its one of the not that "Smart Watch" like Models, but a Sport Watch whit Smartwatch Funktions .. (Instinct2 Solar)

I will post 2 New Things in the next 2 Weeks, did order a Pair of Sketchers Hands Free Shoes and an Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 ..

Strange, my Garmin still holds up quite good,

The battery life for my one (1st gen Instinct Solar) is still fine atm, but I've noticed that Garmin have started ignoring it in favour of its successor, I can't use the Connect IQ app with it for example. So I thought I'd get a watch where all the features are built in and the battery is easier to replace.

Compatible with Garmin you say?

I visited Amazon to leave a review about my Protrek and ended up buying the following item.

I thought it'd be a bit of fun + I got an extra (small) discount, when I got to the checkout the total price was liisted as £25.64 instead of £25.75.

Splurged £85 on a ThinkPad x201. It's the 2010 flagship compact and one of the last models with a decent keyboard. It's a lovely machine that purrs with modern Linux. Feels like a real computer, intel i5 (4 threads), 8G ram, 256G ssd is overly adequate if i don't do VM's or IDE's. I had always wanted a ThinkPad since I first saw one in 1994 (playing Wolfenstein DOS demo off floppy). It seemed uniquely solid, serviceable and with a usable keyboard. 30 years later it's confirmed best in class with a peak at circa 2010 . Recently I was not surprised to learn that the ThinkPad philosophy originated in Japan. A bit clueless as to what to do with it now that it's setup. Maybe take this nice UNIX workstation to the pub.

Are those the laptops where you can press Fn+Space and it activates a tiny lamp which shines on your keyboard?

Yes it's like a projection of Princess Leia begging for help without Princess Leia.
That feature always made me happy like a child, I don't know why but is playful to me. A backlit keyboard doesn't have the same feeling. I don't even associate that light the same as backlit keyboards, so if it's dark enabling the light isn't as obvious for me as using a backlight.
I like the keyboard light on the Pyra, on the Pandora I would tilt the screen to a more losed state so the screen lit up the keyboard :p

Enough CFL light bulbs to keep me going for the next few years. I replaced one of my CFL bulbs with an LED one earlier this year and it's already on its way out after less than six months of usage whereas its predecessor lasted for years (no difference in usage between the two).

When I moved in here I've got the widest diffusely white LED bulbs I could find at Ikea so they would work fine without lampshades to get more decorative shades at some later point. I still use them as they are. For over 3.5a now and they're still going strong.

A Garmin Instinct 2X Solar for my Dad as his old Apple Watch (was my old too) did got some battery issues:92% minus in 10 hours is discusting, the Garmin got about 40 days between 2 Charging events .. i dont have a picture it’s looks like mine but much bigger (did not expect this) and it’s good a quite usefull flashlight build in.. he don’t know yet how to control it fully but he is happy..

a Anker 321 5000 mah Powerbank for my Pocket, it’s doesn’t got that much charging power but therefore it’s not that big..

a Pair of Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen2: they might not have this super hight end ANC like the Airpods Pro2, but therefore they are made for heavy sports, are quite sturdy and even Waterproof, which means I can wear them under the shower, so listen to music there whitouth annoying the others in this household..
the charging case is also quite usefull: it’s also a bit water troop proof, can get charged on the wireless charger from my phone, and even though it’s only working whit the USBC cable whit 3,5 inch audio jack adapter it’s contains an Bluetooth Transmitter so you can make anything wireless as long it’s got an 3,5 inch Audio Out..

and this totally legit GBA SP from Dragonbox Shop which is not an Anbernic RG35XXSP, as this would be completly insane.. , if it’s where the Anbernic and not an normal GBA, it would play anything from Atari 2600, up to Sega Dreamcast and PSP..

ok for PSP there are some expeditions like the 3D Racing Games, for them it’s a bit too slow but the whole 2D Stuff, and the Beat em Ups are running fine, even Soul Calibur Broken Destany..

My recent experience with Amazon's delivery service: They decided to change their delivery method from leaving my parcel on my front doorstep and running away, to leaving it on a neighbour's front doorstop and running away instead.

I don't think they get paid unless it's delivered somewhere. If anyone's hanging around on the street, then they'll likely pass it to them.

I'm trying to stop using them.

The drivers also lie about where they leave parcels. My most recent parcel was apparently left near my back door, no it wasn't it was left outside the front door of the wrong house. The previous parcel was apparently "Handed to resident" when it was actually left propped up against my front door fully exposed to the rain and also anyone that was passing by that felt like nicking it.

I never tried to start using them
I remember when I first used them, I didn't want an account and wasn't particularly interested, but they had a promotion with some cereal manufacturers and were giving away free (physical) books for 6 tokens from cereal boxes. I did get a few books, and have to admit it was a good promotion.

So for books you'd do anything. Good to know. Might come in handy. :) I wonder what you'd do for Knuth's work - complete and with leather covers.
Depends what you're asking!

Funny you might say that, the books are in my wishlist, albeit not the leather ones.

If you're talking leather bound, check out Four Keys Book Arts' rebinding of Dune (on YouTube)...
