What are you playing this weekend/these days?

I'm excited to play modern 1st party Nintendo games, hopefully with my daughter.

MKW is excellent as expected. My first impressions of it are: familiar, big and easy.

@netcat so you opted to not signal Nintendo that their new prices are ... not so nice?
Sure it's more expensive compared to the original Switch. But in Europe the PS5 Pro is ~€700 compared to the Switch 2 at €470, so at the moment it's the 'cheapest' new console available.
The games are more expensive to and that also happens over time. There physical games are always more expensive to produce compared to the much cheaper blu-ray disks (on average €10 more for consumers).
So, sure it's more expensive. And sure, Nintendo might have increased prices to match the new market prices.
It might have been possible for cheaper, but they needed to increase prices anyway due to inflation etc. So maybe they increased prices to match the coming 5 years and have a stable price for a longer period.

I may be misinformed, but isn't the Switch 2 more in the ballpark of the PS4? I don't mind it not being a supercomputer, but its pricing should be compared accordingly.
And game prices, idk. The main argument I here is, they put way more effort into the games than in the N64 era, or something like that. But they don't cost them per copy - media aside; fully aside when we're talking digital; and it was physically more medium in the N64 era - and the Switches userbase is how much bigger than N64's?
I think, they show a lot of money-grabby signs in general. And in that light I look at the current ongoings. Maybe I'm objectively totally unjust in this, but that's my perception.

But a PS4 isn't a mobile platform. When you compare the Switch 2 with the Steam Deck it's more comparable in price.
The Steam Deck is roughly €420 and the dock is €90 so a Switch 2 at €470 is cheaper.
And if you compare it with all other consoles, yes those are more powerful, it's still in the cheapest category.
Or you need to buy a digital only version like the Series-S which mainly exists to sell digital subscriptions.

Nintendo usually sells their consoles at price while Sony and Microsoft sells at a discounted price. They expect customers to buy games to even out the price of the hardware.
Sure, Nintendo sells games at an even higher price, so I it would have been nice if they at least price matched their competitors taking the loss of additional cartridge price vs. blu-ray disks.
I think it's also the digital price that bothers people, as it's still high. Maybe they'll offer a Microsoft-like subscription which gives access to those games making the subscription more attractive.

btw. The Switch 2 uses emulation instead of hardware backwards compatibility. This also apparently causes Switch 1 games to run much better on Switch 2 hardware, which is great.
Not all games are compatible (yet) so it's good to check the list of backwards compatible games to see if your game is on there. But it could be a reason to migrate to the Switch 2.

compatibility list can be found here: https://www.nintendo.com/us/gaming-systems/switch-2/transfer-guide/compatible-games/
