This is the new home for my weekly pyra preorder stats posts, after its original home disappeared off the bottom of the first page of pyra news. It was inspired by vcoleiro's epic first 60 days of preorders, starting here, and my continuation starts here.

So, without too much further ado, here's this weeks update:
Code:
Week 01 (01/05-07/05): 563 pre-orders (000-563)
Week 02 (08/05-14/05): 82 pre-orders (563-645)

Week 15 (07/08-13/08): 4 pre-orders (859-863)
Week 16 (14/08-20/08): 12 pre-orders (863-875)
Week 17 (21/08-27/08): 2 pre-orders (875-877)
Week 18 (28/08-03/09): 1 pre-orders (877-878)
Week 19 (04/09-10/09): 9 pre-orders (878-887)
Week 20 (11/09-17/09): 11 pre-orders (887-898)
Week 21 (18/09-24/09): 6 pre-orders (898-904)

Week 25 (16/10-22/10): 7 pre-orders (908-915)
Week 26 (23/10-29/10): 5 pre-orders (915-920)
Includes two cancellations, by my count. No new preorders since Wednesday this week, so perhaps we're starting to need a new video or something, if we don't get some more preorders tomorrow.

And we got one! At just before 2AM this morning, someone made the 921th preorder.

I'll also note the logs have switched from CEST to CET as expected at 2AM last night. I think that means I need to check stats when the time is an hour earlier than I was checking it in CEST, next week (22h vs 23h).

As BlueMaxima pointed out on IRC, this also marks half a year since the pre-orders started.

Indeed, 26 weeks and one day makes today over half a year since the preorders started. It'll be six months since the start after tomorrow, but the summer months take up more than half of the year because of July and August both being 31 days long, and the winter months are shorter because of February.

We're at 922 preorders now, but at lunchtime we were at 921, so I think that's the official 0.5*annum number.

As can be seen from the numbers thread, things have been ticking along nicely all week pretty much. No cancellations this week, so that's the true number, but that's still the highest number for a while even discounting cancellations

Yes, we are very close now to the number that ED quoted as the maximum number he'd need to be able to afford to build 1000 units at once (950, IIRC). And then maybe only another month or so to 1000.

It's quite impressive given I didn't even preorder my Pandora until I'd seen videos of prototypes running stuff, but I do trust ED's ability to deliver a lot more than the person who ran that preorder system. I'm expecting things to speed up a lot once those sort of videos start coming out for the Pyra.

Ding ding ding! It's week 28!

Only the one cancellation this week that I can spot, but it looks like it might have been someone upgrading a non-GSM unit to a GSM one. Orders were fairly evenly spread throughout the week, so any weekend effect seems to have disappeared, although this has been an odd week with server switch downtime (which I assume also affected the shop, though I didn't test it). And we had two orders within a 15 minute period around lunchtime today, giving us the final 940 value (though that only makes three weekend orders versus 4 weekday orders).

Edit: Whoops. Onwards to November!

944 Sold! today
Ca. 50 pre pre-orders haven't yet been converted to a pre-order.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
so it would ship after 6 more or 56 more?
if the first I have to decide today if I will buy pyra :p

EDIT: or it just shipped and we wait for 1500 or 2000?

there's no magic amount which makes ED press the "PYRA, GO!" button, except for the bare minimum to achieve a production run (which he already has achieved). he's doing a prototype run and then if everything's looking good, he'll press go.

maybe @EvilDragon can comment on this though, or update his predictions, it looks like we're nearing what we need to make 1500 pyras no problem (somewhere between 946 and 1101 preorders):
https://pyra-handheld.com/boards/th...y-and-microusb-port.78467/page-2#post-1397290

If we want to produce 1000 Pyras (and get the new touchscreen as well), we need an additional 220 to 280 preorders (depending on how many new or pre-preorderers order those units, etc.)

That would be a total of 844 - 950 orders (depending on the failure rate as well).

Is there some mismatch? Both the quote I've made there and the quote in the linked post come from the same newspost, and that's the one I'm using. He goes on to say he'll need up to another 200 preorders plus upgrading all of those initial preoders to sales before he can afford to build another 500.

That said, I don't think I'm the only person building up my downpayment for my Pyra using shop vouchers. ED can't rely on those yet for Pyra production, because I could spend those on other things in his shop, though I'm certainly not planning to yet. Since I'm not paying in Euros they're my insurance against further devaluation of my currency against the Euro.

no mismatch, your quote is for 1000 pyras, mine is for 1500 pyras.

remember ED said there might be a second preorder round if he doesn't get enough preorders now (since there's some big ticket items he needs to order to get up to 1500).

Hmm, my quote says 844-950 plus upgrades of those to full orders, plus 120-200 more preorders. That makes 964-1150 preorders plus upgrades of some 900ish preorders to be able to build 1000 units, then another 500.

Surely it can't be cheaper to do a single build of 1500, without getting the final payments from people beforehand. Must be a typo I think - I'm sure ED knows what he's doing.
