I'm not talking full out internet access. I mean if someone where to download a web site with a program like Plucker or Surf Offline, a program that could view it and sort of 'tab' through the links. It could browse through the pages and go through links that take it to different parts of the sites.
I'm not asking for it to support flash or java... but just maybe...

I was thinking about writing an html rendering engine in SDL, but i figured nobody'd use it. GPE has 2 nice browsers that can take a while to load but work nicely if you can correctly configure internet. BTW, GPE will not be able to access the SD card or NAND afaik so you need wifi or usb internet to be set up.

Some people think GPE isn't worth it though. Its your choice.

links2x uses SDL. Its not the lastest/greatest but it does the job. I just set up internet sharing between my linux box and GP2X so if I wanted to I could surf the web without touching my keyboard. I've got it set up so I could surf via the links in my del.icio.us

Yah, a browser to read saved pages offline, as an e-book reader. That would be really great.

Why the hell would I want to view a webpage in text-only mode?

Because you don't need pictures. Pictures are bad for you.
