Tv Out

I have my dreamcast with emulators on it and it's really fun to be able to play all the games on the tv. When video games over tv out works, it will just be a more portable design then having to use the dreamcast because I can bring it to someone elses house to play them as well. Plus, exult/ultima 7 on a tv would be awesome! What do they need to do to get video game funcitonality working with the gp2x? Is it something that can be changed on the device.. or would it need to be programmed by the dev on a emulator/game basis?

I think it'll be more convienant for all the movies I dl. Instead of having to convert them and burn dvds all the time, I can just put one on my sd card then convienatly plug in the tv-out cord and watch it on my tv.

I have a video out plugin on my computer, but I dont use it much, cause the desktop gets shrinked on my 30' TV to like 200 x 400 or something, it's terrible. But irregardless, TV-out is a great accessorie I think :p

I wish they'd sell the kind that nigel made though, I dont have s-video on my TV :(

I dont think i'll play many games on the tv out.. maybe a few but not regularly. It will be most useful to me for video. A lot of tvs have a/v plugs right on a front, so it will be great for going to a buddys house and watching a few episodes of something.

I'll still get the tv out cable

since it seems to be only 16bux USD.

so it's not much money. but I have yet to order a gp2x.

if GPH was apple they would be charging 39.99 for the tv out cable :p

The next product from Toyz4Boyz will be a breakout box that will support 2xUSB, Serial, TV out, Audio out(not sure why this was patched through ext when you have headphone socket ?) 5v Power 3.3v Power

No fair, I want one now!

But it would be even greater if a 4 port USB hub would be included in the box! *hint*

I'll just have it for the novelty of having somthing to boast about back when psp users start rambeling about their wonderfull screen......

If this cable that is to be releases S video based, will there be a chance of using just a normal RF cable like the hacked cable? My TV doesnt have S-video so I would be out of luck if you could'nt use RF.

Edit: should have read up a bit better, appreantly it doesnt :(

Just use a modified RF cable for the PSX or a box from radio shack or walmart for hooking up DVD players to old TVs.
I just use an old VCR, they have Audio Video jacks and output to RF.

Just grab one that has been eating tapes, if it will show a blue screen and channel to Video1 or Video2 it is good. I have a few in my closet if I ever need them.

On the topic of S-Video, from wikipedia:

The luminance (Y) signal and modulated chrominance © subcarrier information are carried on separate synchronized signal/ground pairs. Because of this, S-Video is also considered a component signal.

In composite video, the luminance signal is low-pass filtered to prevent crosstalk between high-frequency luminance information and the color subcarrier. S-Video, however, separates the two, so low-pass filtering is not necessary.

To make an adaptor, you simply connect one side of the S-video to the Composite style connector, then you will get a B/W picture.

To cure the B/W picture you go to the TV tools menu and select that you are using composite video, not s-video.

I made the adapter from my gForce that way, connected one of the pins from the S-vid out to the Video of my TV, then went into the settings tab on the display properties and told it I was using composite video *woila* color on the TV, not necessary to make a big deal out of a cable.

Retails for about 2 pounds! :) Out of interest, how on earth do you write the pound symbol on the keyboard :(

£ = ALT+0163

Thanks mate, I have been wondering how since I joined the forum.

My great grandfather originally came to california from england so I like a lot of british stuff (netflix is awesome fo letting me watch all of the black adder, altho lately I am into monarch of the glen, scottish I know, but that Lexie is really hot, esp in the second season when she got more tone and tanned.)

It really upsets me to type "$4 (or 2 pounds)" instead of "$4 (or 2£)"

I can't make it work though, I just copy-pasted yours.

what the heck??

I got it, used the numpad instead of the ones above qwerty.

££££ ( would put in as many £ as I weigh, but lets just say its 122 kilos :D )

and before you go saying I am a fat american (which I am :p ) I am still 6-foot and carry the weight OK :D

never knew those existed. btw im using a laptop

Yeah, im on a laptop too, so chances of me using alt combos are zero to none. I don't think its worthwhile to dig out my external keypad eather.
